2002 Masters of the Universe

Television

Just finished watching this the other day & Numeria book / AP coming out soon has got me thinking about it a lot.

So I am starting a thread for everyone to gush about how awesome that show was. What's your opinion - was it just plain awesome, or was it mega-super awesome?

Haters and naysayers start your own thread, please. I am only interested in hearing from people who agree with me.

The greatest praise I can give it is that it wasn't the Dolph Lundgren He-man.

I liked that one too when I was a kid. Mainly for the villains.

"Tell me about the loneliness of good, He-Man. Is it equal to the loneliness of evil?"

I thought the 2002 reboot was really very good; darker and more serious than the 30 minute toy commercials from the 80s.

I agree Cal it seemed to take itself a bit more seriously while still being accessible to kids or teenagers. It still seemed like a toy commercial at times, like whenever they would introduce some new vehicle or character. That's kind of the charm though, to me at least - "Here's this new thing to play with!"

That bit where King Hiss eats a guy was pretty dark.

You got that right. The series is on Netflix now and I'm enjoying every second of it.

I heard that if it had lasted longer, that Skeletor was going to become a bigger part again (kind of dropped off the radar with Hiss running around) and eventually Hordak would have shown up. I never heard if they had any plans for She-Ra.

I remember watching it when it was on and liking it, but could have done without the five minutes of weapon-twirling in every fight.

I heard they did have plans for She-ra during the third season with Hordak.

I thought it was a great show and like the 2011 Thundercats wished it had lasted longer.

I actually like the 80's movie version. I wish the new one would get made and be both good and close to the source material. But my faith in the modern movie making machine of today is not that great.

I noticed that too, that Skeletor sort of dropped out of sight when they were focusing on the Snakemen. And there was a lot of foreshadowing about Hordak.

I would've liked to see a 2002 version of Horde Prime.
