Aha! You gnomes thought you could hide forever, but I've found you!

I really needed to take my tree down. It'll keep till the 14th. Awesome!
I'll tell my husband you said so! ;)
Okay, Seriously.
Would you the RPG Superstar hopeful want one of these for your character?
If "no" then why are you entering this item?
If "yes" then...well...yuck.
Best of Luck
Cursed SIAC and super expensive to too!

Sometimes I feel like that director NPC in The Sixfold Trial.
Spice rack vs. literal SIAC
What.
Another trend I'm noticing: Wasted words telling me things that are obvious by reading the description of how the item functions, or over-explaining things that are common sense.
(Hypothetical) Example: "These shiny ruby slippers are worn on your feet." There's eight wasted words. I know they're worn on the feet because they're slippers. Also, even if I didn't know what slippers were, the Slot designation is "feet."
Requires the involvement of a creature that really can't be arsed to be involved.

Pro-tip: If I can pretty much name the item with an adjective that means the opposite of the adjective you used and the item description still makes sense remove the adjective.

As fun as this thread is, I feel really horrible about my entry now (even if I still think it's awesome despite what everyone keeps saying). Do they automatically link the item to your account, or can I keep it anonymous if it doesn't make top 32?
Would be decent but overpriced by almost 50%.
Mike Welham wrote: Requires the involvement of a creature that really can't be arsed to be involved. Had that one. Would be a great excuse as GM to impersonate a b+!+$y NPC, even if it i just for a little while.

It stays anonymous, but you can put your item up in the "critique my item" thread after the top 32 get revealed.

Pretty sure if you don't make the top 32 it never has to see the light of day unless you want it to.

The only one who can reveal your item is you - unless you make the top 32.
Don't feel horrible - its probably better than you think - and we are being extra catty to relieve the frustration of voting.
If it makes you feel any better, I will NEVER reveal my entry from last year because it was so terrible. Good formatting, decent mechanics, horrible idea. I just didn't realize it until I entered it. But I learned a lot.
At least I did better this year. ;)

You can reveal yourself in the official critique my item thread that shows up every year, but that's your choice. I found my item from last year embarrassing but still posted. It's good for you.

But you will find that the Critique My Item thread is no where near as harsh as this. This is just venting. If it were just one or two items doing the same mistakes, we wouldn't even need to do this. I posted my flawed item last year, and got great feedback. Everybody get's burned here, so take heart! :)
Argh. You are a potion, not a wondrous item. Begone with you! And even if you were a wondrous item, you are ridiculous. Creative, though.

Biblical reference vs. instrument

Item from Black Crypt and Might & Magic? Let us see what the competition offers.

Even so, I would encourage you to share it in the Critique my Item thread once it is up, ( do not post your item yet or it will be DQ'd) as people can offer helpful criticisms and are going to be much more helpful.
imo, people are really only riffing on items so intensely because it's easier to say, "Oh great, another scabbard" than to go into an in-depth analysis of why the item's minor mechanical flaws, potential rules abuse, etc. kept them from voting for the item. We've only got one minute to post unless we want to steal time to away from voting.

NOTE: I am not a creator defending an item, I totally blew the deadline this year.
Competitor is self-harm item. At least that is a self-harm item with excuse for injury it inflicts...

Why does this item's author think I want to lick it?
Typo in the item name. Drink!

NOTE: I am not a creator defending an item, I totally blew the deadline this year. It's true, like elixir of Fire Breathing, etc. I don't discount over that, but the effect was really dumb, and the use of the item totally potionlike in that it gave a spell effect.

There you are, you magnificent beast! That seems like a lot of money for what it does, though.
I just saw an item (again) that strongly resembles one created in a tip thread and couldn't help but think what if this came first and was just bad luck in parallel design?
Oh the look of horror that must have crossed the designers face when he saw that thread..."I just submitted that! Maybe no one will see this thread..." *weeps*
And now I got 1.8 million gp item. I think that gardening item might win that comparison...
Pamela Elizabeth wrote: Why does this item's author think I want to lick it? I had that one few minutes ago. I drowned my reaction with Jägermeister, and now I am sad because I have nothing left to drown my reactions in.

Man, I have two really cool ideas. I can't decide which to submit. I know! I will make each one a part of an item worn in pairs. Winning!

Everytime I look at this thread I like this community a little bit less.
Oh, please don't feel that way. Unlike years past when only Paizo judges saw ALL the items and they could say whatever they liked, we have to keep confidences of everyone. I know I personally saw some things and I do it out of frustration because the things I see are avoidable or just not the wondrous item we're looking for. I saw these things aloud here so others are aware of issues and can perhaps attempt to avoid them in the future.
This year's items are definitely a step above last year's! It's exciting to know that as a community we can get better. I still care for the people behind the creation, but I can't say the specific things I want to say, so it comes down to very vague sound bites.
Also, remember, this is just the warm up. If you haven't read Judges commentary before, you ain't seen nothin' yet. There have been comments that are literally "This is crap and I do not recommend". Don't believe me? Look over the past years.

You and I have very different opinions on what "sentimental" means. Your opinion is far more disturbing than mine.
Can you get a set of matching deck protectors for it in your choice of color?
