Guys.
GUYS!
I finally found my item! :D I wasn't DQ'd!
God I'm such a terrible writer.
Is that a riding harnesses in your pocket? Or are you just happy to see me?

Mike Welham wrote: Jeff Lee wrote: Seriously, why are there so many items that want to kill me and my friends when I use them? It works that way in real life, too. Look, I know the kitchen mandolin is dangerous, which is why I use the hand guard when I'm slicing onions. I just think the spellcasters creating these items need to be reported to whatever passes as OSHA in Pathfinder. This stuff just isn't safe.

I am sorry to anyone on this thread that might have written one of these, if yours was the only one, it might have been cool. I hope I didn't start that trend with my item last year. My bad.
On the left, an item that claims to grant two abilities but then lists three, and they're not even all related to each other.
On the right, something that's mostly a skill bonus item but for well over 10 times the price.
Hrm.
Oh look. A pixie stix like item.
Or maybe it's an extremely portable hookah.
Feros wrote: OK, I'm sorry, but what is with all the farming stuff? Gardener's tools, seeds, and other paraphernalia for growing trees, shrubs, and vegetables. I'm a viticulturist and a horticulturalist in real life and I see no adventure in either areas.
Don't get me wrong, I'm passionate about what I do for a living. But I really don't think "pruning the verge" makes for great adventure writing.
Come play Lord Of The Rings Online. We have farming skill. You could even level all the way from 5 to 95* with farming if you wanted to**.

Obviously Paizo needs to have an Iron Chef competition along with Superstar.

Sorry, not voting for an item made for mutilating corpses.

Hmm with this item I can be Nick Cage OR John Travolta

I'm going to go back to voting.
Everytime I look at this thread I like this community a little bit less.
Jeff Lee wrote: Scabbard! Drink! At least you still have alcohol. I ran out the first day, four and a half bingo cards in.
That ability check isn't really needed for that item to be viable...

Oh, it's all in good fun; besides, I'm fairly certain there have been a few terrible comments about all our items.

Hey, it's the 1,850,000 gp item again!
It hasn't been DQ'd Mike!
Okay, that was the funniest item name yet. Made better by the fact that it was intentionally funny.

-_-;
I meant coffee...
*looks at item*
Wait, what?
Did Project Runway invade Superstar?
JET PACK!!! Q: does it come with roller skates?
Followed immediately by the most boring item name yet. Oh voting system, can you not allow my joy to last more than a moment?

Huzzah! I'm running into new items, so maybe that one will show up for me. I'm looking forward to it.
My wife wishes me to mention that she is voting too, and having a quite painful time, but does not post. That is all.
It's "Fortitude", not "FORT". Not a huge deal, but it was the tiebreaker. Sorry.
*sigh* A bit boring backstory. It could be developed for a one page Golarion backstory and sent to Wayfinder (assuming improvement in quality of writing) but in 300-word limit it's just pointless.
You still have chance to be voted up at the moment, depending on items actual properties and performance of competing item, though.

If I see one more item with a funtion based on ant haul I am going to scream. If you built your crappy wizard according to some internet guide and therefore only have a STR score of 7, §!$&%ing live with it.

Hey, the welcome return of one of my favorites from this year!
Six spells in the requirements?
Oh. It's four spells - two are mass spells.

I get where you're coming from... think of it more as friends ribbing one another and less mean girls and maybe you'll find it less hostile.
If you're new, sorry. Voters expect you to not only be an expert on Pathfinder, but Goleran (yeah sp), previous year contests, grammar, and formatting. It's a lot to learn.
If you see negative feedback on your item it can be hard to take. The good news is you win by participating and these same people will tell you the good with the bad when the time comes and help you become a better designer. I'm miles ahead of where I was last year and I've gotten some headway with the 3PPs out there.

Found my item! And it is against an Item I have down-voted each of the 3 times I have seen it. Hooray!

Just saw that one, the excess mass weighed quite heavily against it.

Misty Moors is my exotic dancer name. ;)
Camping item vs. contact lenses
Overpriced spell-in-a-can with additional effect but bonus point for a general (if possibly gross to more squishy folks) idea. Lets see the competitor.
Wrist slot of mutilation or overdone spell in a can eye slot item?
