Magic Weapon Question

Rules Questions

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the potentially silly question, but I am relatively new to d20 games in general and I had a question about cost and function of enchanting weapons.

Suppose I wanted to add two enchantments to my longbow. Does this look right price wise?
--Add +1 (since this needs to happen before adding other enchantments) which would cost 2,000g
--Add Bane (+1 base price modifier) which would make my bow +2 meaning I pay an additional 6,000g (to get up to the 8,000g price for +2 weapon)
--Add Keen (+1 base price modifier) which would make my bow +3 meaning I pay 10,000g (to get it up to the 18,000g price for +3 weapon)

Also, if I end up adding enchants to my bow and it raises to being a +3 weapon (similar to the example above even if the price is different), does that mean that I get +3 to roll and to damage for this bow in addition to the benefits of the specific enchants?

Again, apologies if this is a silly question or has been asked a lot, I just couldn't find direct information on how those two pieces worked.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Your math is correct on the pricing. As to your second question, let me see if I understand you correctly.

Using your Bane Keen Longbow +1 example, which is a +3 enhancement total, you'll get +1 to attack and damage plus the additional. Now, if you raise that +1 enchantment up to a +3 and keep the other two options.... then you'll get +3 to hit and damage (which would make your bow a +5 equivalent).

I hope that answers your questions!

Thanks on the first part!

If I am understanding what you are saying with the second part, there is a difference between having a +3 enchantment total vs. having a +3 bow (one signifies the total enchantment level, the other the dmg/attack modifier). Is that correct?

No problem, glad to be of help. And yes you have the correct understanding. If you've got any other questions, feel free to ask away.

other difference you should be aware of
Save throws, HP and hardness, and the ability to go through DR are also for the bow +3 enchantment vs a +3 bow.

in your example it would have
+7 bonus to the weapons saves throws (this is because Keen is level 10 caster requirement)
+10 hp
and +2 hardness
go through DR Magic only

a +3 enchantment bow would have
+6 bonus on saves
+30 hp
+6 hardness
go through DR Magic, Cold Iron and Silver.

Also note that the weapon in your example because +3 enchantment vs what ever creature the bane property works on is.
