I want to determine how a ring of telekinesis was priced, so that I can better calculate the worth of a "greater ring of telekinesis" with CL 15th.
Anyone have any ideas how it was done?
I'm guessing it should be 125,000gp. The standard ring of telekinesis should cost 81,000gp according to the item creation formula guidelines. It would appear that the developers thought that, that was too high, so they lowered it to 75,000gp, or about 92.6% of the expected value.
If I were to apply the same reduction to my improved ring of telekinesis (calculated out at 135,000gp) I end up with 125,010gp.
Does that sound appropriate/logical to you?

I'm assuming the formula you're using is the one for command word:
Caster level * spell level * 1800 gold pieces (?)
If the only change is Caster Level (and you're still using Telekinesis as the spell), you should be able to just use a fraction (15/9*75000 = 125000), which is basically what you did.
What particular benefit are you looking to get by increasing the caster level of the ring creator?

For once... yes. That sounds just fine.

Caster Level affects everything with the spell, particularly the CMB used for maneuvers, but also the number of items that can be 'flung', and the weight limit. Doesn't really affect the duration between activations, because it's a concentration spell, so it will take a standard action to use regardless.
