I had the thought to use the down time system to pay for and expand a demiplane. I know its in the realm of possibility, but i'm being lazy and haven't read the rules in full. Hey at least i'm honest and usually down time stuff doesn't interest me.
So to facilitate a future demiplane and to prolong my laziness, what would be the best way using the Down Time System 'em 'em 'em... to fund and expand a demiplane using the create demiplane spells?
Nothing? I was hoping there was someone out there who really liked the DTS and could tell me. Oh well.
Hard way it is.
Well, I don't see that there would be much you would need to do. The 8th level version of the spell can absolutely change it to whatever you want, even adding structures and changing terrain.
However, a great use of your demiplane would be to connect it to a town and bring in people to run business in the town. An enterprising adventurer could create quite the trading post by linking it (via Gate) to other locations around the world. You could have your own plot of plane that you could connect to (and gain benefits from any town or city.
Remember, with the Create Demiplane spells, how you use them determines whether they are permanent or not. When you use Create Demiplane to add a feature, such as Bountiful, it has a duration of Instantaneous; that means it is permanent and can't be dispelled, like Wall of Stone.
So, one Permanency Lesser Create Demiplane, and then use Create Demiplane and Greater Create Demiplane to add whatever features you wanted.
At the minimum level (13th) you gain 39 10 foot cubes (10x10x10) with which to form your Demiplane. You could make a pretty good sized house using that much space, including a yard! Then you Permanency the Lesser Plane. Purchase yourself two Scrolls of Create Demiplane and add the structure and bountiful features. Purchase yourself 2 Scrolls of Greater Create Demiplane and add a portal and the flowing time (half) traits.
If you're too low of a level to cast 7th level spells, you can still do this by buying a scroll of Lesser Create Demiplane and a Scroll of Permanency with enough material components for the Lesser Plane.
If you had to do this entirely with scrolls, it would cost:
Lesser Create Demiplane - 2,275 gp
Permanency - 18,625 gp
2x Create Demiplane - 6,000 gp
2x Greater Create Demiplane - 7,650 gp
All total, it would cost 34,550 gp to create a private dimension that has a house of your design, with a bountiful garden and a portal for easy access.
