Greetings Guvnors and Ladies of the Pathfinder Society,
Me rescuers told me I might want to put me name out there ta see if any folk would be wantin a skilled type who is good with hes hand and is able to open up the most secret of places.
They also said you might be wantin to know who I am.
Back on the Rusty Drake, people used to know me as Treasure Chest. I was often in the shore party where old Jackal and meself would quickly be able to locate the loot in question and then most of the time be able to abscond with the riches leaving the chest behind empty for all ta see. Sometimes though, the empty chest would make a goodun hiding spot .. cause nobody expect anyone to be hidin in it.
Sadly old Jackal passed away from consumption back in the Black Pearl of the tropics some time back and things were lookin dire as I made the mistake of signin on with a cursed boat.
But like a shinin beacon of the water Queen, Besmara a ship full of Pathfinders managed to rescue me ship and sadly due to a misunderstanding kill most of the crew on board. Luckily they had heard of me exploits and skills. Way I see it, society much like any ship. You got cooks and people who got skills to do different things. Lots of Captains too.
Don't feel too sad for me though. Ive had some laughs on the way, ive gambled under the watch of the sawtooth types, ive swum with the devilfish and stolen their eggs. People tend to overlook the little folk which can be good and bad.
At any rate, I found meself a cheap place of residence down in the puddles and am willing to offer me services as an explorer, investigator and society member to the society for a very small fee. Just please dont be making fun of the hook.
Garrick 'Treasure Chest' Jinx,
Former first crew of the Rusty Dragon and Society member (current).

Welcome to the Society, good Garrick. All of us have our talents, and yours would be most welcome on tasks I endeavor.
Most recently I have been examining the vicinity of the town of Thornkeep, in the Riverlands. My own Arcane Talents have aided in successful missions, but someone nimble of finger and body would have helped significantly as well.
I hope you find some good groups to delve with, and watch out for the Worldwound.
Forlanderion, of Kyonin.

Welcome Garrick,
i am not to familiar with the worship of besmara, but i know the fates have dealt you a firm hand from which to play. Any assistance to the days ahead will be a boon to the society, if you need help with understanding. I would be more then happy to explain the hierarchy and mission statement as it were to you in depth.
Forlindarion,
I ask a favor of you my elven comrade, if you have the time... would you be willing to teach your language to me. It turns out that alot of the uprooters can't speak a word of the common tongue.

Ogre chimes in - Hey Bob, watch out for the Worldwound - that's puttin it lightly. With the stinging, the biting, the hurting, the popping, the oozing (yeah its the oozing that really gets to me.)
Bob responds - Ogre stop ranting about it, you're back in Absolom. Heck I just bought you a half bushel of waffles from that strange Orisian. Just pretend it never happened. At least you got to fight Demons, you loved that part.
Ogre looks disgruntled and mumbles about certain favors to certain Chelaxians being overly priced.

Forlanderion,
I ask a favor of you my elven comrade, if you have the time... would you be willing to teach your language to me. It turns out that alot of the uprooters can't speak a word of the common tongue.
"Of course I can help you with learning the fundamental tongue of the people. However, the course of study is extensive and involving, moreso than the dozens of other languages I have learned. Perhaps it might be better to make or obtain a Headband of Vast Intelligence with such learning already subsumed in the crafting? This would allow you to use the time saved for furthering studies in other areas. I find my own time so very limited, and I despair that there is so much I will never learn."

Forlindarion,
I had considered that, unfortunately i already wear a item of magic in that location. I think it would be rude to change headgear to converse with someone whom you are trying to keep on good terms... i suppose i could be wrong. I have little knowledge of elven customs... having spent the majority of my life in Absolom.
I do understand the time involved, perhaps you know a suitable instructor whom is not as pressed for time?

I would not normally want to interrupt good sir Cor'win is it? You have a bit of the look of a Taldan to me, nice seafaring folk I say.
I could not help but to overhear that you might be in the market for perhaps some quality gear. I know people who know people see and Im sure we could fix you up with some pporiate items.
Just keep in mind that the quicker you want something, the more costly it is gonna be and the less question you will want to ask later on if you get my drift.

Cor'win looks to Garrick and smiles.
"Nay, i hail from this city... my allegiance is to this city, Pharasma, Order, and the society. Not necessarily in that order mind you. As far as gear, i am sorry to say, i am quite poor after my most recent purchases."
He appears to be wearing common travelers garb, the only real thing of value being the clearly cold iron rapier at his side.
"I do understand Forlindarion, you have my thanks regardless."
He turns to a table and takes a seat, his hand to his chin in thought.

"Well, the life of an adventurer does have its own blessings. I have been able to access ancient memorials and lore that do not come to light for those who stay in the safety of the City. I still remember the Book of Infinite Spells, and the vast knowledge contained within."
The elf of indeterminate age looks back to Treasure Chest. "One can find gods of all walks and duries. Pharasma is the judge of the dead, the one who guides souls to the appropriate afterlife. Would you rather go on the endless seas with Besmara? Or spend an eternity with ... less sociable end in the Pits of Hell?"
He smiles softly. "I am sorry if that sounds harsh. Good people doing good deeds should never have to face such horrors. I did not mean that you would risk such a venture, just that Pharasma is the one directing such important distinctions."

' Ive lived most of me life around less sociable types you see. You aint see horror until you see a plump sailor climbing up the rigging rope. Dont look up is me advice to you'
'Besmara aint done me no wrong. You keep her happy, you stay happy. Sure beats that Mantis one back home though. Mysterious lot too'
'I try to be an equal opportunity type you see. Give each of the gods their due, that way none of them can be unhappy with ya'

Cor'win looks up from the table and shakes his head sadly.
"so many focus on My Goddess as one of death, very few see the cycle of life which she brings forth to the world. As a Priest, i have birthed more babies then i can count... fate, prophecy, and some aspects of water... those also exist within the faith and ethos. Yet it is the fear of the unknown, the twisting of the threads which all seem to dwell... do not fear death, it is a step down another road."
He removes his hand from his chin and gestures broadly.
"Depressing, is it depressing to have a new child born into the world. The chance for your own legacy to branch and bear fruits of its own. To cherish the love of the family, no... that is the joy of life. Like all things, time claims all things which are of this plane."

![]() |

"Surely you jest, claiming that time claims all things of this plane? Justly do we mortals age and die, yet some values remain after us in our works of this world. Despair not in this life that you may know there are more chances for valor, honor, and mercy."
With this the attractive half-orc settles back to his plate, the afternoon glow reflecting from his not-quite occidental armor.

Cor'win looks to the half-orc and shakes his head.
"Time, age, and fate erode all things. Valor, honor and mercy are words to live or die by...but make no mistake, not everyone follows them. Honor has split more blood then you might think."
He sighs.
"Life is a cycle, just like everything else in nature... its a long discussion friend."
