Dragon Hide Armor

Is fame all that is needed to buy Dragon Hide Armor in PFS? I informed a player that only players who have a boon sheet can buy those and he has made counterpoints essentially stating that there is no ruling in PFS which limits Dragon Hide to boon sheets and that fame is all that is required.

Anyone know where the ruling for this would be. I'd love to be wrong, so if I am, please let me know.

Yes, you're wrong. The only rule about dragon hide armor is that it isn't "always available", which means you can buy it once you have the appropriate Fame.

Dragonhide is perfectly legal. Three of my characters wear it, actually. It's just not "always available".

TY, awesome. I read another post a while ago and it said something else or I think it did, glad to be wrong.

Dragonhide breasplate is the (second) best 2 Prestige a Druid can spend.

Does that mean you can only buy Dragon Hide with prestige or can you just shell out the cash?

As long as you have the Fame needed, you can shell out the cash.

The 2 PP comment is that it can be acquired that way before you have the Fame needed, so a 1st level Druid could have a dragonhide breastplate, if they manage to get their prestige fairly reliably.

And he noted (second) as he probably recommends, still, getting that wand of Cure Light Wounds as the first 2 PP purchase.

Indeed, those were the first two PP purchases my Druid made as well.

Spending PP bends the Fame limit rule slightly. Normally a 1st level character could not spend 750gp to buy a wand of Cure Light Wounds, but with PP they can. Same goes for a Dragonhide Breastplate, which IIRC is priced at 700gp.

Aye, my druid used her first 6 Prestige Points on Dragonhide armour, a good bow (darkwood composite), and a wand. Actually checked with a VL to make sure I could. Because sometimes the fame/prestige rules make me unsure...

Keep in mind that you can't actually sell that dragonhide breastplate if you bought it with prestige. Druids with full plate aspirations might want to wait a few levels and pay cash.

Hmm. I don't think I'm planning on going that route, but if I decided to, since my Breastplate is +1 now, could I sell it for 500gp? Half the cost of the magical enchantment that I paid for?

No, sorry.

However, if you do decide to go the heavy armor route, it never hurts to have a set of backup armor, either to lend to a companion of the road, or in case you run into a sunder opponent, and don't have time to get it fixed in the middle of the game.
