Using arcane mark in spell strike to get two attacks

Scarab Sages

So I had a magus in a pfs game (2nd) - and he constantly used arcane mark in spell combat to get two strikes as it was a touch spell.

Does the spell used in spell combat have to be a combat spell or is this a viable way for magi to constantly get two attacks?

Not a pfs question. Brace for moving captain!

Yes it works, albeit at the -2/-2 for two weapon fighting.

I personally prefer Brand, but that's just me.

Brand is not a Magus spell.

To get it you need to either be a Hexcrafter (who get it since it is a spell of type curse of a level lower than 6th) or you need to spend a feat to gain some extra 0 level spells from other classes.

But yes it is mechanically slightly better than Arcane Mark though the flavor of both is very similar.

Wrong, you're not two-weapon fighting at all.

You do suffer a -2/-2 penalty, but you suffer said penalty from the Spell Combat ability of the Magus.
