In the middle of First Steps and now what?

Pathfinder Society

Ok so my online group decided to play PFS when someone couldn't make the regular session. We have played a total of 1 PFS session, First steps part 1 in July. I went to set up the event for part 2 tonight and it says 2 and 3 are retired, i found out this was due to 2 factions disappearing.

my question is this i suppose, what do i do with their completed part 1 characters? do i just count it as a normal scenario now and how does the xp and gold from part 1 affect their future sheets?

a quick answer would be great, we're scheduled to start in about an hour :/

Yep, apply it as a one shot, just like any other scenario. Their XP and gold will carry over on to the scenario you are running tonight.

You can still do Part One of First Steps without having to do the other parts. On the chronicle they should have 1xp, 2pp, and the gold found. There is no affect on future sheets as Part One is a done scenario. I would say move on to another scenario. Hope this helps and sorry if this was not quick enough.

well damn, thanks for the fast reply. looks like i wasted several hours making tokens and prepping for a session that won't count. such is life i guess.

Hopefully you can reuse the tokens for another scenario!

I'd recommend Silent Tide for fresh-out-of-bootcamp Pathfinders, or perhaps Master of the Fallen Fortress if you need another freebie adventure. I know you were supposed to start a while ago, so I don't know if this helps. :)

Don't worry, you weren't missing much with the two retired scenarios.

So much hate for those scenarios :p. My group enjoyed the urban/dungeon/outdoor progression...but they are pretty green so maybe they just didn't know any better

Actually, you were never forced to do First Steps as a complete series. It was just recommended because they formed an ongoing storyline, and many GMs ran them with a fixed group within a short time (like 3 consecutive weeks or days, or at a convention).

First Steps always was a trilogy of 3 seperate scenarios, each of them granting 1 XP, 2 PP, and the listed amount of gold, with 2 of them now being retired.
The only difference between First Steps and other scenarios is they're Tier 1 only and can be replayed for credit with another character. As long as First Steps part 1 is still PFS legal, it will still be replayable with as many level 1 characters as a player likes.

Oh, I'm not saying you can't have fun with it, I'm just saying that there are better scenarios out there. Part 2 is a very basic dungeon crawl, and that's not really my thing. Part 3 is really oddly written and requires a GM to actively work to smooth the plot over.

Try one of the modules or first level of thornkeep (assuming your some of your folks bought CLW with their 2pp) - they get a character to 2nd level in one shot - or rather those that survive.
