Clarification on some die rolls

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Lets assume I'm using the Ranger and a Light Crossbow.

He has base dex/ranged: 1d8+3 and the Light Crossbow has an additional 1d8. While in combat with a Bane card, lets say I discard a Blessing of the Gods for an additional die to my check;

I'm assuming that means I'll get another flat 1d8 (since I'm using dex) and not a full 1d8+3, right?

So final tally would become: ranged + crossbow + blessing die, ie: 1d8+3 + 1d8 + 1d8 = 3d8+3

I hope so. I have been playing it like that all the way through Burnt Offerings. Harsk is at 2d8+6 now with his Bow +1. He has Ranged +3, Dex+2

Which is nice.

Liberty's Edge

That is correct and can be confirmed with the 1/2 dozen other threads concerning this exact same issue.

Our party's Harsk s equally ridiculous - except that he normally uses the +1 Deathbane crossbow rather than his +1 Shockbow - yes, he's been very lucky with the pickups so far.

I wish my character (Sajan) had a similar opportunity to upgrade his basic attacks, but with three-way competition for the Blessings of Erastil (with Harsk, Merisiel and myself all wanting them) I've managed to add just two of them, and have yet to see an ally which adds to "combat" rather than "melee" (again, other characters take them first).

Only Sheriff Hemlock.

I hadn't noticed that before but most allies are useful in non-combat the rest, apart from a single Sheriff Hemlock, only add to Ranged or Melee Combat.

Silver Crusade

There's a more generic ally that adds to combat, too. I believe it's the Soldier (don't have the game in front of me right now). Not basic, but I've picked it up once or twice in playing 7 or 8 solo games and a 4 player game.

Soldier adds to your melee combat ... I should have added the Sabre-Tooth Tiger as it adds to Combat.

Scarab Sages

Isn't Sajan able to use multiple blessings on a combat check? So theoretically if you used the Amulet of Mighty Fists and three Blessings of the Gods his role would be 4d10 + 1d4. Plus he can recharge all the blessings. That seems pretty good to me :)

Yeah - but he was talking about a way to get better than that, like Erastils. My advice - fist fight your friends for them :)

I rarely have three blessings in hand. WHen I do, the other party members demand that I spend some of them helping them pass those tricky non-combat checks that they're not very good at (having pumped themselves up to be combat monsters).
