I'm NOT considering this concept....but...

Fantasy setting Tony Montana. Except with mumia instead of cocaine.

As a huge fan of Egyptian Mythology, im avidly waiting for AP 80, so I guess I will starting this later than everyone else.

A Cleric of Thoth ( or the Golarion equivalent).

A Cleric of Sobek with a Croc Companion might also be cool though.

Some (very) rough concepts:

Gnome (Explorer, Pyromaniac) Wizard (Primalist; Admixture school)/Oracle (Spellscar mystery)/Mystic Theurge

Ifrit (Efreeti Magic, Fire Insight) Bard (Dervish Dancer)

Human (Osiron) Alchemist (Cryptbreaker)

Human (Alkenstar; Heart of the Wilderness, Heroic) Gunslinger/Ranger (Battlescout, Skirmisher) with Hero's Fortune (will use Hero Points)*

*- Yes, this character is somewhat based on Brendon Fraiser in The Mummy; Alkenstar does supply gunslingers as mercenaries, after all...

A bit better defined now that I've had a chance to read People of the Sands:

Bal-Temek the Riddler, Gnome Wizard (Primalist Evoker/Admixture; Opposition Enchantment, Illusion); Magical Knack (Wizard), Sphinx Riddler; sort of a blaster type, but with some control and utility thrown in; first primal magic event will trigger oracle levels; not quite sane (well, gnome after all...)

Etwa Firecaller, Ifrit Bard (Dervish Dancer); Flame of the Dawnflower, Undead Crusader; fairly straightforward and focused on melee combat; ties to Church of Sarenrae

Nevai Masozi, Human (Garundi, Heart of the Sun) Alchemist (Crypt Breaker); Inquisitive Archaeologist, Scholar of the Great Beyond; secondary blaster and combatant, plus locks and traps; Osirionologist

Wondame "Thunderstaff," Human (Garundi) Gunslinger (Musket Master); Foreign Opportunist, World Traveler; primary ranged combatant; somewhat cynical wise-cracker

Some other concepts that look like fun:

Dwarf (Ouat, Giant Hunter, Lorekeeper, Surface Survivalist) Monk (of the Four Winds, of the Sacred Mountain); Resurrected, Sphinxfriend; goal: Living Monolith

Half-Orc (Chain Fighter, Toothy) Ranger (Guide); Caravan Drover, Mummy Cursed; ex-slave, fights with whip/kukri (Weapon Focus (Whip) at 1st, Combat Style (Two-Weapon Fighting) at 2nd, Whip Mastery at 3rd) or dire flail

Human (Keleshite, Focused Study) Magus (Bladebound); Arcane Temper, Trapfinder; goal: Genie Binder (from The End of Eternity); yes, I know that the character can't qualify until 16th level (even with the retraining rules), but it's interesting and thematic

Human (Garundi) Oracle (Ancestor); Devotee of the Old Gods, Magical Knack (Oracle); dip one or two levels of fighter and take Combat Expertise, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Kopesh), and Improved Trip

Suli Druid (Urban Druid, Nobility); Blood of Pharaohs, Influence

The reveal of the cover for #80 is both awesome and frustrating, because I totally want to use that for some PC concepts but that's also totally going to be a major NPC. It could lead to continuity issues. ;)

I wonder what he's meant to be. I'm guessing sorcerer. He's lacking the equipment necessary to be anything but sorcerer or wizard (and wizards are generally drawn with a big spellbook hanging from their belt or clutched under one arm). In my head-canon (not to be mistaken for my head-cannon), that gold-filigreed femur in his hand is a lesser metamagic rod of extend.

Love the light tattoos / ash-markings / whatever on the darker skin. He's like a boy Seoni, only Egyptian-ish and showing more boob.

Ha. Just noticed that he's got the finger-cap things that 'Ra' in Stargate wore.

The dark stained feet are intriguing.

Name: Wyeth
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Nationality: Absalom
Class: Bard (Archaeologist)
Alignment: True Neutral

Wyeth is the scion of a wealthy trading family based in Absalom. He uses part of his family's fortunes to fund his archaeological expeditions abroad. He's visited many historic sites across the Inner Sea region, but his greatest fascination is the ancient sands of Osirion. In particular, he wishes to uncover the history of the pharaohs who ruled Osirion as the ancient pantheon of gods that were worshiped there. His most recent adventure has brought him to Wati, where he intends to delve into the city's crypts to see what secrets they hold. Wyeth is inexperienced in combat and generally prefers to evade or talk down opponents. Hearing rumors of potential undead predation, he has equipped himself with a longsword, light steel shield, chain shirt, and shortbow with twenty arrows. He is motivated by his hunger for esoteric knowledge as well his pursuit of mercantile wealth: perhaps he'll uncover a treasure hoard or an artifact that he can sell in Absalom's markets. Little does the young archaeologist know what he's walking into...

EDIT: If Wyeth bites the dust, I'm rolling up an Angelkin Paladin of Ra. A character like that is just two awesome to be played at level 1, so he can enter with sun/falcon styled full plate and plenty of magic gear.

1) "Ookla is a member of the Mok species, a leonine humanoid with fangs and yellow eyes." Catfolk is the closest equivalent; Ookla just focused on Str instead of Dex.

2) Ookla tended to be used as comic relief at times; because his character did not "talk" (or at least, didn't speak so that the audience could understand), the fallback is slapstick humor.
3) All three of the characters were horribly stiff and slow.
4) He looked pretty agile in this clip between 0:38 and 0:45; then, 2) came into play at 0:50.

Having not looked at the player's guide (just downloaded it now, with intentions of looking tomorrow), here's one concept I wouldn't mind trying out:

a female gnoll desert druid with a hyena animal companion. Possibly views any male party members as inferior beings (because gnolls will always be female-dominant in my opinion, as hyenas are female dominant). And if that became too conflict-y with other party members (which I am sure it would), have her opinion change after they "prove themselves competant and worthy". Probably a LN or even NG alignment (still irks me about them supposedly always CE, like the orcs, just because that was the default alignment tossed on enemy creatures).

Of course, finding a GM that would allow a gnoll as a playable race would be the tougher thing to find.

Blood of Pharaohs campaign trait. If we can pick a pharaoh ancestor, the unnamed Song Pharaoh or Kahotep, Pharaoh of Tomorrow.

Osirian Human Paladin of Sarenrae or an appropriately fitting Ancient Osirion NG or LG deity. Khopesh-weilder. As bare chested as possible.

Spinning out of the Egyptian idea of Ma'at, he'd see himself as charged with helping restore the correct order of things back in place after all of the chaos left over from the Kelesh occupation, the Age of Lost Omens, and whatever troubles are going to hit when this AP starts. Hoping to nail a real mixture of paladin humility and values dissonant views on Pharaonic vs priest caste vs commoner station. Probably veering more traditionalist if descended from the Song Pharaoh, and more convention challenging if descended from Kahotep.

That is, if we're picking our ancestor. Maybe there's a plot twist reveal furthing into the AP?

I want to make a crocodile-themed character, but I'm not sure if I should go with a druid with a crocodile companion or a witch with a crocodile familiar. I picked up the Blood of the Moon book that contains skinwalkers/werecrocodiles and it mentions Osirion having a ton of them...mwahaha. I'd give her the trait that includes worshipping the old gods and make her a ruthless disciple of Sobek.

Grand Lodge

I'm not playing, but running two separate instances of it. One party is...

Half-elf Summoner (Wild Caller), whose father was a wild elf from the Mwangi Expanse. He's fascinated by traps.

Human (Rahadoumi) Fighter (Tower Shield Specialist), exiled from Rahadoum after being assassinated and then subsequently resurrected by divine magic. I kind of encouraged him to flesh out this backstory idea specifically because of Salim from Death's Heretic.

Tiefling (Div-heritage) Rogue/Sorcerer (Div-bloodline) going into Arcane Trickster. Going to be the party's native guide to Wati. I expect mischief.

Aasimar (Agathion-heritage) Paladin, lioness-esque Aasimar features and a Devotee of the Old Gods, specifically Sekhmet.

I'll post the other party later, they're not quite ready to be introduced.

I think it's safe to say that the Court of Miracles is the other party I mentioned. 8)

I'm not sure how well the Court of Miracles theme is going to work anymore, but my other party of players have settled on character ideas.

Human (Garundi) Rogue, worshiper of Sarenrae planning to take the Dervish Dance feat and fascinated by the enigmatic Sphinxes.

Human Bard (Gypsy 3pp from ICOSA Entertainment), probably from Lamasara, trying to form a band of traveling mercenary-entertainers.

Dwarf Paladin (Stone Lord) in service of Torag, interested in foreign stonecraft and smithing.

Human (Garundi) Witch from Bargetown, a Wati native with a tendency towards healing the downtrodden in the floating slums.

At least the first two still fit the Court of Miracles theme, we'll see how the others get incorporated.

Just because I can (and get a minor benefit; as well as being thematic):

Take the Vain drawback to pick up the Magical Lineage (disrupt undead) trait (thematic), dip a single level in wildblooded sorcerer (Elemental/Primal (Fire)) and take Still Spell at 3rd character level (arcane mark, disrupt undead, flare, mending; burning hands, true strike), and take Fire Music at 5th character level (thematic and makes Fire Insight more valuable; as well as giving some versatility with the few bard damage spells, with a bit of a bonus from the bloodline arcana). 1st level feat is Scorching Weapons and 7th level feat is Inner Flame.

All I lose is 2 hp (average plus favored class bonus), +1 BAB, and a one-level delay in bard progression. Since this AP will not got to level 20, the class capstone is a non-factor.

I'm considering playing a "reformed" Goblin sneak thief. My goblin is vegetarian as he finds it "easier to forswear meat entirely than pik'n'choose."

He is quite possibly a slave to another PC or a former slave, maybe to a hobgoblin.

Details a sketchy, but likey the alt racial traits of Over-size Ears and Cave Climber as well as the racial trait* of Ugly Swine.

Rogue choices are TBD, but focused on lok-pik'n and deviss disabl'n.

*Boy it would have been great if "traits" had been termed something else, so not to overload with racial traits. Maybe background properties or story details or whatever.

I'm getting to be a PC in this one. I settled on a character with the Blood of the Pharaohs traits. Garundi Paladin or Horus :)

My girlfriend grabbed the old god trait and his playing a cleric of Horus too, so we'll see where that duo goes. Most likely will play siblings.

A free enhanced Disruptive feat and a Spellbreaker feat simply by threatening ANY spellcaster casting necrotic, death, or evil spells? Plus with Aegis feats to help protect adjacent allys, I can see this being a fun support/defense class.

Technically, they do. 'Racial' traits are features which are part of the 'package' of the race. Race 'Traits' are 'traits' which are only available to members of the race in question, or members of another race who have taken the Adopted (race in question) Social trait. That said; yes, it would have been nice if Paizo had chosen another term besides one which was already a legacy from Third ed./3.5. That ship has long since sailed, however.

This would be the perfect AP for a cryptbreaker. Although I have always wanted to play a ratfolk gultchgunner. A dungeon based AP would be an interesting place for a point blank gunslinger.

Scarab Sages

I just started running this game last night. The characters my players made include:

An Oread Warpriest of Pharasma
A Garundi Cryptbreaker Alchemist
A Catfolk Two-Handed Fighter (Going for Living Monolith)
and A Dhampir (Ancient-Born) Qinggong Hungry Ghost Monk

So far they seem fairly balanced but the Cryptbreaker Alchemist's dice hate him when he searches for traps.... Nearly had 2 deaths with the first trap they encountered.

My current concept for this campaign is a Paladin with the Undead Cursader campaign trait and a (technically) homebrew ACF (GM already approved it). I've wanted to play a Paladin Dervish Dancer of Sarenrae for some time and this campaign, so I looked through the other Dervish Dancer ACF's and cobbled together one that works for a Paladin.

You can find my thread about the character build here.

Backstory concept so far:

Reikah's father was an Osiriani priest of Anubis while her mother was from Qadira. When the Ruby Prince opened the necropolis to exploration seven years ago Reikah's father was among the first to explore the ruins. Unfortunately for him, they proved far more dangerous than he thought and he was slain after he attempted to study the wrong corpse. Having been widowed with an adolescent child to care for, her mother picked up and moved them back to her family in her native Qadira. Upon reaching adulthood, and against the wishes of her mother, Reikah decided to travel back to Osirion in search of companions that would let her avenge her father and strike a blow against the undead that claimed his life.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I've got a player wanting to play a an elf with the Desert Runner alt racial trait. I posted the following in another thread, but got no love, so thought I would try here.

Elves don't seem to be native to Osirion in any significant numbers. Are they more storied populations in any of the other dessert areas of Golarion that would be more appropriate for a Desert Runner Elf?

Desert Runner Elf:

Some elves thrive in the deepest deserts, forever roaming across burned and parched lands. Elves with this racial trait receive a +4 racial bonus on Constitution checks and Fortitude saves to avoid fatigue, exhaustion, or ill effects from running, forced marches, starvation, thirst, or hot or cold environments. This racial trait replaces Elven Magic

Crypt Breaker Alchemist, or maybe finally play that Suli Monk I've wanted to do for ages.

I'm making an arcanist (from the Advanced Class Guide playtest). He's a tinkerer/experimenter, curious about the workings of pretty much everything he encounters, both magical and mundane. He disables traps (via the campaign trait), invents his own spells (as much as the GM will allow), and has a low bar for what constitutes a good idea. A good portion of his hair is permanently pointing up and back as through frozen in mid-explosion, and most of his custom spells will look like things that he "invented" by failing in some other magical experiment and then writing the accident down in his spellbook.

** spoiler omitted **

Elves appear to mainly be Avistani, with an enclave in Tian Xia (Jinin) and in the Mwangi jungles (Ekujae et al.). According to pathfinderwiki, there are nomadic desert elves in Osirion that are descended from the wild Mwangi elves. Another possible source (not mentioned anywhere) would be from Casmaron, having traveled through Qadira. Lots of possible desert there! Finally, the cities of Katapesh and Quantium along the Obari coast of Garund are very cosmopolitan, and surely there are elves to be found in each city.

I’d have my character be an Osirionologist from Andoran. The first reason is to tie one of my interests (Andoran) with the adventure path’s theme, and Andoran is quite interested in artifacts from down south.

The other reason is…:
…so my PC would have a justifiable motive for opposing the designated antagonist, whose patriotic motives make her a potential threat.

I’d also have my PC be a devotee of Zohls, my favorite Empyreal Lord behind Arshea and ideal for an AP centered around archeology.

Class-wise I’m torn between bard (archaeologist) and investigator but I’m leaning toward the former since that’s been polished.
