I think I've been hanging out with Jacobs too much. He's normally the resident "weird dream" guy.

jajajaja James... you owned the thread, jajaja

Nah, that was me, sorry. Wanted to call you about a minor bug in the blog, but my cell phone didn't work, so I used the Nightmare spell.

Do you have any suggestions as to which actors/actresses would be the best to represent the Pathfinder iconics in a movie?

That's a trick question.

You don't need actors to represent the iconics, only the voices of the iconics, because a properly-done Pathfinder movie would be an animated film by Hayao Miyazaki.

Meepo makes an excilent point, but i can also see and arguement for Shinichirō Watanabe.

Weird Pathfinder Dream

Was it a dream where you're in sun-god type robes atop a pyramid while thousands of scantily clad college girls toss tiny pickles at you?

Why am I the only one that has that dream?

Silver Crusade

I emphatically second the idea of looking towards American Gladiator types for an Amiri rather than at the current crop of action heroines.

There really aren't any Bridgette Nilson(You're damn right I misspelled it!) in Hollywood these days, huh?

True, and Amiri needs to be really buff. To a lesser degree, so does Seelah (which is why I suggested Gina Torres).

Seoni: Scarlett Johansson

Hot, but over-rated methinks.

flash_cxxi wrote:
Merisiel: Charlize Theron

Meh. Again, hot, but long in the tooth. She's been around a while.

flash_cxxi wrote:
Kyra: Jessica Alba

Bleh. Certainly attractive but can't act her way out of a paper bag.

flash_cxxi wrote:
Seelah: Jada Pinkett Smith (possibly Halle Berry, but I think Jada fits it better)

Oh god no please not Halle Berry. Way over-rated both in looks and acting ability.

flash_cxxi wrote:
Ezren: David Duchovney

An interesting choice.. not sure about this one.

flash_cxxi wrote:
Harsk: Vin Diesel

HAH! Now I know you're being silly.

Lem: Johnny Depp

Ok. I can see that one.

Good call.

Lini: Dakota Fanning

Another good one.

flash_cxxi wrote:
Amiri: Milla Jovovich (possibly Megan Fox, but Milla is my first choice)

Ok, I can see either one. While I find Megan Fox only about 10,000 times hotter, I think Milla may look more the part. I would not be displeased with either choice :)

Seelah: Gina Torres
Ezren: Dennis Quaid
Harsk: Brendan Gleeson
Lem: Dominic Monaghan
Sajan: Vin Diesel

Valeros: Jensen Ackles
Seoni: Christina Hendricks
Merisiel: Not Sure Yet
Kyra: NSY
Seelah: Gina Torres (I can see this)
Ezren: Viggo Mortensen
Harsk: NSY
Lem: Alan Tudyk
Sajan: NSY
Lini: NSY
Amiri: NSY
Seltiyel: Jared Padalecki.

I will edit this at times to fill in my missing cast members.

Honestly I hate the thought of putting names down of people who've done notable work together (IE Firefly and Supernatural) however I just found the names listed to be people I think fit.

Seelah I could be swayed to turn over to someone else possibly but Alan Tudyk would make a pretty cool Lem.

As for Valeros as Jensen Ackles ... it just feels like a good fit to me. Give them guy some hair extensions and I honestly see it working out great.

Same think goes for Seltiyel. As far as male characters goes, he is the iconic that has been presented to us as the prettiest (drawn at least). With that in mind (and with him being a half elf so fairly tall) I saw Jared Padalecki as a good strong choice. He's a pretty boy and I think has the potential to pull off the bittered L/E type while still making the character likeable despite the dark side.

(I do love Supernatural but that aside, these two actors are really great at their work as far as I'm concerned)

Grr. Found this thread before going to bed, and now I can't sleep until I hash out my ideas. I do reserve the right to rewrite it after I've had some sleep.

Valeros: Hugh Jackman Overplayed perhaps, but a good visual fit.
Seoni: Selma Hayek a good "gypsy" type vibe from her.
Kyra: Eliza Dushku
Merisiel: Summer Glau
Ezren: Sam Elliott
Seelah: Gina Torres
Harsk: Vin Diesel, only because I can't think of a better "brick" right now...
Lem: Heath Ledger ideally, but Alan Tudyk in reality.
Sajan: Jason Statham
Lini: Karen David
Seltyiel: Karl Urban
Amiri: Michelle Rodriguez

He was great in Dollhouse, but better as Wash!

Valeros: Eric Banna (Chopper crossed with Hector)
Seoni: Billie Piper (not the best actress but yeh)
Merisiel: Ziyi Zhang (Crouching Tiger)
Kyra: Jessica Alba
Seelah: Angela Bassett (Strange Days (loved that movie))
Ezren: Malcolm McDowell
Harsk: Brian Blessed (should have played Gimli in LotR)
Lem: Stephen Fry
Sajan: Oded Fehr
Lini: Dakota Fanning
Amiri: Milla Jovovich (possibly Megan Fox, but Milla is also my first choice)
Seltiyel: Johnny Depp

I'd love to take full credit for that choice... But as I take the time to go back through the thread and get other ideas for my casting choices, I see I'm not the only one with this choice.

And by the way, if you enjoyed his work in Dollhouse, you should look for his CSI episode. Creepifying.

The 8th Dwarf wrote:

Oohhh.... That is a much better choice.

I've rethought my casting choices, and have come up with some non-standard choices. There might be a little stretching, but I give the actors credit for being able to fill the role properly.

My revised list:

Valeros: Patrick Swayze Unless he has let himself go, he has the physique for the roll more than Hugh Jackman. Not to mention, he isn't as overplayed.
Seoni: Selma Hayek A good "gypsy" type vibe from her. As an alternate, if you aren't going for the gypsy/Rom angle - and don't mind a British accent, Layla Kayleigh has the... physique to pull off a fine Seoni.
Kyra: Eliza Dushku
Merisiel: Summer Glau
Ezren: Sam Elliott
Seelah: Angela Bassett
Harsk: Jack Black With all of the hair on Harsks' head and face, we would need a good facial expression actor. And Jack Black can fill that role. As long as he isn't allowed to "run rampant" with the comedy - which he pulled off well in Kung Fu Panda - he can play a good "straight man" funny.
Lem: Heath Ledger ideally, but Alan Tudyk in reality.
Sajan: Jason Statham
Lini: Karen David
Seltyiel: Karl Urban
Amiri: Michelle Rodriguez

Health permitting I think he'd make a great Valeros =) Last I heard he's still dealing with some of the complications from cancer, but is very much alive...

What about Liv Tyler for Merisiel, she already -has- proven elven-compatibility... no wait, scratch that, I don't want to end up liking Merisiel better than Seoni.

I considered it... But given that Merisiel is almost never illustrated with her feet on the ground, and Summer Glau has already proven herself in that area, I went with her.

Umm... you do know that he's fighting cancer right now?

After seeing her in a guest role on Warehouse 13 (looking amazing in an evening gown), my vote for the Seoni role goes to Erica Cerra.

Scarlett Johanssen is, like, two feet tall!

And has the facial traits of an ogre more than those of an elf.

I think if we're going to have people who have had plastic surgery, let's at least take the ones that aren't surgical failure. Hearing things like Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johansson and Devon Aoki for Seoni gives me the creeps.

I agree with this mostly, only the first two im not entirely satisfied with. I think the rest is perfect.
