Official clarification required concerning one power from Terrendelev's Scales

Wrath of the Righteous

It seems there's an error in the description of the Resistance Power. The description says you can use the scale to cast Resist Elements, only there is no such spell, right?

I think it should read Endure Elements or Resist Energy. Which one is correct? And if the latter, isn't it overpowering, giving resist 30 vs cold / electricity at 1st lvl? Way more powerful than the other scales!

Can we have an official response?

FWIW, I'm calling it Resist Energy (because it specifies energy types I believe), but I'm making the scales all function using the character's level as the caster level.

Yeah, but James Jacobs said that the Scale's caster level is 19th.

Of course as a GM one may change anything, but... I have the feeling that those Scales will evolve during the course of the AP!

Resist energy is the spell it lets you cast. (Note that all the scales grant a 2nd level spell; resist energy is 2nd level.)

It's a typo, in other words.

And they all function at caster level 19th. As for whether or not it's overpowering... it's certainly GOOD, but it's also a power that you as the player don't get to decide if it works. You can decide when to use levitate or alter self or align weapon to gain an advantage... but since resist energy is defensive and doesn't mean anything unless you are actually targeted with that type of energy... it's harder to use and easier to "waste."

The scales do not evolve during the AP; they are what they are already.

EDIT: I take that last part back. Just thought of a REALLY cool idea for them if the PCs still have them around in the last adventure. Ha.

Since I'm the one developing it, I'm pretty sure it'll make it in.

Now I am eager to see this happen. All my players after hearing the opening scene decided to request a a drawback. They wanted to be strongly attached to the scale and as such I am fairly certain they will have them in the final book.

Durrrrr. I was really thinking, "I hope it doesn't get cut for word count or because James doesn't have time to flesh it out to his satisfaction."

Regardless, I lol at your comment.

Oh; gotcha!

No... in fact, it doesn't exist yet and is something I'll be adding to the adventure, along with something else more significant that I'm adding to the adventure to create a satisfying tie between it and the 1st adventure. Something may need to be cut from what Rich wrote to make room... but since I generally order a few thousand words less than I need for an adventure in order to leave room for additions I want to add in during development, it shouldn't be a problem.
