I know this topic has been discussed in another thread somewhere, I wanted some advice from GMs who are running/have run CC.
I've decided to get rid of wealth/level just because I don't like dealing with the slower pace of PC's sorting through loot, selling it and basically eating up valuable game time and rping opportunities. I want, instead, to give my PC's just a few pieces of equipment that will level up with them and not have to worry about wealth mechanics.
It is a 5 person party with the following characters all fifth level. We have just begun book 2: The Trial of The Beast. Party composition as follows:
- Dhampir Inquisitor
- Aasimar Cleric of Sarenrae with a focus on casting
- A human Sorcerer with the Arcane Bloodline
- An Android Warblade who favors using axes.
- A half-elf Summoner
If you guys have any advice, how would you go about doing the progression and do you have any ideas what legacy weapons would be good to give these guys? I'm thinking of customizing ones for them myself but I don't want to unbalance the game.

In terms of game balance, the GM Guide suggests that when PCs create new characters, only 25% of their wealth should go into weapons. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering#TOC-Table-Character-Wealth-by-Level
So I'd upgrade their weapons by comparing weapon prices to 25% of the Expected Wealth Per Level. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/character-advancement
So, maybe a +1 weapon at level 4, a +2 or (+1 w/ +1 elemental enchant) at 7/8 level, +3 around level 10/11, etc.
I'd lean toward doing Magic weapons with elemental enchants or maybe keen or something that the player would like, making it more interesting that +3 to damage/attack
For Trial of the Beast, The Castle at the end is brutal, while most of the earlier encounters during the trial my group didn't have much trouble with (using gear found or sold/bought). I've had two character deaths in the castle( Rope Bridge Trap, and several close calls and we aren't even done with it yet. So having +2 weapons and +1 armor and/or protection items (cloak of resistance, ring of protection, etc) is advised.
But I also have a 4 person party, so +1 weapons might be okay, with what looks like a solid party composition.
The AP gives players a few +2 weapons, but the base limit of Lepidstadt is 6k, so it's assumed they can't buy w/e weapons they want (unless the GM is nice).
