I'm running Kingmaker myself, though, and starting at 7 made me wonder: Are you starting with book 1, and scaling the encounters? Or are you planning on starting with book 3, and if so, how are you doing the kingdom building that was expected by there?

Spoiler:
I have to say that many of the encounters in book 1 are artificially low level, even ridiculously so...

So you get to ambush a confident group of few bandits?
So half the bandits in their camp are "out" so you can kill the rest easily?
The "untameable" Stolen Lands are inhabited by a handful of low level prank playing monsters?
The kobold tribe is down to a couple dozen members with a traitor in his midst?
The bandit "lord" is a drunkard that can't stand on his own feet?
Do me a favor!
Nah... This stolen Lands are Really dangerous wilderness...
A kobold NATION!
Dangerous bandits and murderers!
Dragons, misteries, recuse powerful spellcasters!
Political intrigue and espionage from enemy nations... And even friendly ones!
And that is not the worst... The fey... Oh yeah... The fey.
What I am imagining is the kamelands as described in the book 1 but 10 years later, and without giving "chances" to low level wannabees...
The kingdom building starts from the beginning... No need to wait for the rules appearing in the second book.
Wide screen high adventure, epic campaign, that's what I am aiming for.

Sounds fun. And very good point about the power level of the "untameable" lands - I'd never actually considered that.

I'm definitely going to try and keep an eye on this. It sounds fascinating, and maybe if you have an opening in a few months, I'll be able to get in on it.

Good luck!

And remember, this is the test run... If everything goes according to plan in a couple years I will be starting and even bigger one!

Since I'll have to use the level 7 feat for Leadership, are you OK with me switching him over to a Feint Rogue instead? Not ideal, but it should work.
Do not switch, keep as-is, and the next feat you get you can grab Hellcat. Do not only plan for this level, the plan is for you to grab more levels, in time. But the important bit here is do not switch.

So remove Squire (and get another Feat) and switch out Hellcat for Leadership? OK.

It's a shame Squire didn't work, since it becomes Leadership at level 7 (with the exceptions). Or if Hellcat Stealth was a Combat Feat, so I could grab it via rogue talents...

Ah well. I'll swap out Squire for Improved Feint, for when it's not dark enough to use Hide in Plain Sight. That work for you?

Liberty's Edge

... And Hellcat Stealth with Leadership? Yes, perfect

Well I did the crunch on a group of rangers but I am drawing a blank for a backstory that can be connected. So I am withdrawing my interest. I love the game idea and look forward to following it.

Thanks for the interest and I hope we put on a good show.

Ok, so we have, currently, 3 candidates:

El Ronza - Anton Marakov - Bard
JonGarrett - Kaldwell - Rogue
Prince that Howls - Fellen the Arcane - Witch

Let's see if somebody else proposes something...

I've got a basic concept for a Battle Herald of Iomedae. Born as a bastard son of the heir some to-be-determined noble house, he was raised by the devoutly Iomedaen family and served as a squire. His faith grew increasingly important to him and he eventually began training as a paladin. After serving his family and faith for some time, he was knighted (and potentially made a member of the clergy [this last bit depends on a request I have]). After serving for some time as a leader of his family's troops, he seeks to increase his family's glory and power and make a name for himself abroad (he's a bit miffed that he can't inherit/be truly noble). Having heard of the Swordlord's mission, he declares his intent to carve out a realm for himself and the glory of his family's name.

Basic Build:
If possible, I'd like to replace the Mount ability of the Cavalier class with inspire courage a la Evangelist cleric to make a new psuedo-archetype (Battle Cryer). I think it fits well with his martial background.

Divine Tactician Paladin 4/Cavalier 1/Battle Herald 2

If that doesn't work for you Corsario, then he will have been ordained as clergy as mentioned above.

Divine Tactician Paladin 4/Evangelist Cleric of Iomedae 1/Standard Bearer Cavalier 1/Battle Herald 2

For my follower, I'm thinking of someone he knew from his time leading troops for his noble family. I'm thinking probably maybe a ranger (archetype?) or something. I did see that we're low on arcane types and skilled types, but I think this fits in really well with the campaign and theme. He works well as a party face and provides quite a bit of buffing. If that's a no-go, then I'd be inclined to do a wizard of some sort.

The bad news is that we have already proposals very similar, a Battle Herald... a Divine Tactician Paladin...

But it's your call. Now, if you ask me... Arcane is the way to go.

Edited Kaldwell. I switched out Hellcat Stealth and Fast Stealth for a Ki Pool and Vanishing Trick, as unfortunately I couldn't use the feint line of feats without some major rejigging. This way I can invisible three times a day, when I don't have enough darkness, and stealth from there. I also did a little re-wording in his personality and added the prices for his gear.

I don't suppose anyone can make wands, can they? I'd like to add some invisibility to my Vanishing Trick.

If that's all good I'll start work on his companion. Would an Arcane Trickster, Mystic Theurge or Barbarian be most useful in the Cohort Brigade?

Ok, the question here is as follows: your build is "solid", but your controlling DM wants you to get Leadership as the level 7 feat and wait until next feat for Hellcat Stealth. But you prefer to redo your build. I wouldn't like to think you are optimizing for level 7 instead of planning for the future growth of your character. When you get a new feat (it will happen eventually, you know... ) will you get Hellcat Stealth? Will you lament having changed all your build? Just want you to be sure, as I don't do retrainings.

Also... I am not so hot on ninja stuff... :S You can have the Ki Pool if you want, no question about it.
You can get wands at half price. Somebody in your team should be able to craft them. 2 wands maximum.
The official word is for you to make whatever you want to play most. That being said, I like barbarians on Saturdays.

No, I'll be taking Hellcat Stealth at level nine. I'd take it sooner if I could, but the only bonus feats I can grab are combat ones until level 11 and the Advanced Rogue Talents. I have no issue with changing a character to fit a GM's wishes, If I go too far from the character I want, I'll either drop out or make a new one.

I wanted to grab Hellcat Stealth at 7 because it'll make a Rogue a lot more dangerous, allowing a much greater chance of Sneak Attacks. It's not essential, though, and while I'd prefer having it I can wait.

Would you prefer I drop the Ki Pool and Vanishing Trick? Again, they're there mostly to allow more chances of Sneak Attacks, so they can be switched out...although I admit, I'm not entirely sure what for. It'll take a bit of thinking.

Thanks for your cooperation. Sounds good, I want you to be comfortable with your character. I would prefer him to be "ninja free" buts it's OK. Fast Stealth is not an option?

It is, and it's something I'll pick up later if I don't get it now, but I have no idea what to do with the other Talent. Ki Pool is only really useful for fuelling Vanishing Trick.

Either way, I'll work out something. Maybe looking at the Story feats will give me an idea, since I still need one of those.

Very quiet in here... clock is ticking. No more questions? somebody ready for a final revision?

BTW: Posted some stuff today in the "old" recruitment thread. Please read it. Are my posts from today, about how I see this starting.

Gotta work on a few things. Work has had me exhausted - I volunteer at a primary school, and you know what kds are like as the holidays approach. I'll keep working on the points you mentioned for my character.

Story Feats: After looking them over, I'm thinking Nation Builder for Anton, and Explorer for Sofia. Anton's ambitious, and wants to claim land, proving that he doesn't need the patronage of a house to be a leader. Sofia just wants adventure, and I think that feat captures her wanderlust well. I'll add them to the statblocks as soon as I buy the Ultimate Campaign data package (got an anniversary coming up, which sadly takes priority over gaming).

Followers: Working on them now. I'll give quick descriptions (eg, Jane, Anton's sometime-lover, female human expert 1, Profession [courtesan]), but might flesh them out later.

Gap in background: I think I'll wait to see who ends up in the team, then tweak the background to include that. If that's okay. It'd be easy enough to do.

Looking good. Anton doesn't meet the prerequisites, but I don't care. For the followers a brief description is enough. Congratulations on the anniversary.

Sorry I'm being slow, I've been suffering from some technical difficulties combined with a new job. Hopefully I'll be able to do some stuff tonight, if I can connect.

Oh damn, I forgot to look at prereqs. *facepalm* I can switch it if it bothers you, but if you're cool with it, I'll keep it. I'll keep working on the followers; just trying to figure out how best to divvy them up. What seems to be the general spread?

And thanks! The anniversary's today - my fella and I have been together for four years. Celebrating the only way we know how... a heavy metal gig. Heheh.

I am cool with it. Followers, it has varied. Check the original thread, one player just make a full military unit for his followers, real nice. Another an extended family, full of plot points. And yet other have only said: "Adepts", "Warriors". All is valid, and won't be a significant pointy to be accepted or not. Just go with what feels comfortable to you.

I'm still working on the followers. Had some stuff coming up lately, and my inspiration was just gone. I'll try to get them up tomorrow; is there anything else I need to be considered?

They could be a military unit. An explorers cadre. A mapping/survey expert group. An admirers group. No need to go into details right now.

OK, I think Kaldwell is done. I gave him Fast Stealth and Kukri Proficiency, in the end.

His companion is partially complete (Dex based urban barbarian) but I can't finish it at work, as the PRD is blocked. Which is annoying. Half the reason I'm a night receptionist is I'm allowed to mess around, playing Pathfinder online for six hours a night, but as soon as the new aerial thingy for the lap top comes I'm sorted. I should finish her tomorrow, hopefully.
