Legal Alchemy in PFS

Hey all,

I know that there're lists on the "other resources" area for this, and I've found a few compiled lists (that seem to have been updated a couple years ago at the most recent)...

I'm looking for a list of ALL the legal Alchemy items that can be made/purchased in PFS.

I have a player who is considering an Alchemist who wants to really get into the crazy stuff for himself (she knows she can't trade/sell the items). She also knows that she would need to own and bring the resources to games... but she's basically looking for a complete list of the items so she knows what she needs to buy. ;)

And for the record: Unstable Accelerant is NOT legal, because it's from Advanced Race Guide under Hobgoblin items... right?

Ultimate Equipment and the Dungeoneer's Handbook should cover just about every alchemical item out there. You might be able to find a single list at d20pfsrd, but I'm not sure.

And equipment from the ARG is legal for anyone, as long as it doesn't specifically say it's restricted to that race in the description. And now I'm off to buy some Unstable Accelerant for my alchemist...

WOW!!! I thought that because it was listed in the Hobgoblin section and that that additional resources area says "nothing from this area is legal" it wouldn't be... so because it's equipment it's different, right?

Thanks for the clarification!!!!!!

Close, but not quite. While the items listed in a race's entry are not race-restricted in PFS unless the item itself lists such a restriction, you still have to obey the over-all availability of the resource.

In Chapter 2, nothing from the catfolk, drow, hobgoblins, kobolds, orcs, and ratfolk entries are currently legal for play.

Since nothing from the hobgoblin entry is legal, that means Unstable Accelerant is not legal in PFS.

Oh, whoops. I was remembering the line that says "Racial equipment and magic items can be purchased and used by any race as long as the specific item permits it." Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the section for Hobgoblins is left out entirely, so that equipment is off-limits after all. Sorry about that.

Well, then I guess it depends on what your version of “as long as it doesn't specifically say it's restricted to that race in the description” means.

This is what it says above Unstable Accelerant:

Advanced Race Guide PRD wrote:

The following options are available to hobgoblins. At the GM's discretion, other appropriate races may make use of some of these new rules.

Hobgoblin Equipment
Hobgoblins have access to the following equipment.

Now, it does say DM’s discretion to an extent, but I would guess an ‘appropriate race’ means another goblin type race or at the very least another monster race. And with the exception of a few rare boons, PCs in PFS cannot play monsters.

So I would say Unstable Accelerant, in almost all instances, is not accessible.

Edit: ninja'd and bettered with the Additonal Resources quote.
