Babes in the Woods...er Jungle....

Serpent's Skull

Did anyone run this with character's that weren't druids/ranger/barb uber-survivalists at the start? While it'd certainly make things harder, it would be cool to see how the challenges would affect the sub-optimized.

We had:

A Druid (but with only 13 Wis and no points in Survival, Kn. Nature, and etc...)

My Monk (no Survival or anything, but good Perception and Acrobatics)

A Sorcerer (blaster)

A Bard

A Cleric

A Rogue (Disable Device was about all he had that was worthwhile)

Challenging at times, but fun.

We are in book 3,My Core group is:

Fighter {Archer leaning}
Rouge {Poisoner} (Retraining as a Ninja)
Wizard{Transmuter}
Wizard{Evoker}

Got an extra player when she can make it

Oracle of Life(Haunted)

Healing/Restoration has been handled by the NPCs

General strategy is "Nuke it from orbit."
I swear if it can't take two fireballs, I change most fights into a montage fight* and call it good.

*Montage Fight:
PCs loose CR in spell levels, CR*(Number of Monsters-(number of PCs+NPCS) [Minimum 1]) in hp loss.

So three CR 3 vs 4 PC = 1 hp each

Grand Lodge

In the party I'm running through this at the moment we have:

An Aasimar Monk
A Kitsune Bard
A Human Wizard
A Human Druid
A Dwarven Cleric/Wizard (heading for mystic theurge)

So far the party haven't been too heavily hit by the fact they only have 1 wilderness specialist (or a melee tank for that matter). They're currently at the start of Book 2 so we'll see how they go.

Human Fighter
1/2 ling Bard
Elf Magus
Mwangi Oracle

None of them had high survival/climb/swim stats.... at the beginning.

It got so bad that the Oracle started calling climb check rolls, Gravity wins rolls.

Swim checks became "Drowning rolls"
