Our heroes are based in Cauldron, the northernmost city in Varisia. There they try to survive missions for the city, intriques, and maybe even save the world... or maybe not.

"Big stone creatures, or big fire creatures. Big fire creatures burn stuff good..." he says a little enviously.

"But Big Boss or Pretty Lady come out an' see you dere, they be plenty mad, so should stay off bad-stone-hill."

"This thing can summon elementals!" Terra exclaims, losing interest in the goblin's response before he has a chance to finish. "How does it work~" Terra starts to study the object more intensely, losing track of the situation.

Not sure if this thing can be use or identified, but Terra will try...

Spellcraft Identify Magic Item: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 3rds

Unless she can actually make this thing work, Terra will continue to nerd out over this item until someone grabs her attention away from it.

Was the plan to draw the baddies out? If so keeping them away from this is gonna be important.


Terra:
Studying the monolith more, you discover that it does not seem to summon elementals, but augment summoning spells.


"Yep, that is definitely good to know. Make a note to keep them away from here! Last thing we need is more bad guys."

Can Terra tell how they are augmented? Does it apply the augment summon feat?

So, are we waiting to ambush the bad guys or are we continuing?

Emyralda has taken up a sniper's position on the grassy knoll and is ready to fire her crossbow at the first goblin or other hostile party to appear.

Anyone heard from Felix or Soth-Loren?


I'm sort of waiting for the ambush or attack to be started, since it is your guy's plan. If it doesn't happen soon, I'm going to have something happen.
I haven't heard from Felix or Soth-Loren in a bit. I'll try to get a response.

Terra:
Summons cast near the stone should get an augment to them, but you aren't sure what kind of augment. (Think of the Feats that can be applied to Summon. It's like that.)

I was waiting for the magic-y stuff to finish up. I'm ready to kick this off.

With the nod of readiness from the folks on the hill, Darian turned toward the goblin village and began moving into position.

I'm not sure how you want to run this. Feel free to set the stage and drop me wherever you think would be most tactically sound. Being down by two players is going to make this a lot more difficult.


Tara will let Darian take the lead, then will follow behind him by about 20' or so.

Terra waits with bow in hand for something to happen.


The goblin villages are still quiet. Over the sound of the waterfall you can only hear the faint sounds of goblins from farther back in their villages.

Darian moved forward as quietly as he could until he saw a group of goblins. Glancing back to make sire his partner was ready, he nodded, the two of them rushing in at the same time.

Darian leaped into the middle of them an swung, hoping to catch more than one with his powerful swing.

Power Attack, Charge: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 2 = 21
Damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4) + 9 = 15

Terra readies an action to let loose an arrow at the first enemy that comes into sight.

Tara follows and attempts to pierce a goblin with her Longspear.

Getting ahead of ourselves, aren't we?

Quietly moving along the cliff face, you come to a pair of wagons, one tipped over on its side, and both marked with crude pictures of goblins attacking wagons.
Just beyond their shelter is a crudely fenced in area, attached to both the cliff face and a ramshackle hut. There are 5 goblin dogs enclosed within, growling and snapping at each other. They haven't seemed to notice you yet, because of the noise and the cover from the wagons.
The rest of the village seems to be quiet (although with the waterfall's noise, quiet is a relative term). The sounds of goblins seems to be coming from much farther off.

Just trying to do what you were telling us to do. I thought there were goblins. I guess I'll just use those rolls on the Goblin Dogs.

Darian turned up his lip at the disgusting oversized rodents, stepped forward and brought his polearm down over the fence.

Moving to L15. Ignore the Cleaving Finish.

Tara, you might want to delay your action until they rush the fence toward me. Right now they're all out of your reach.

Emyralda could cast Ghost Sound to get the goblins' attention...


The goblin dog drops to Darian's attack. The rest of the goblin dogs rush to the fence, howling and trying to get out to attack Darian.

The goblin dogs across the canyon hear the commotion, and set off howling themselves.

And back around to the players, since the dogs have done what they could.


When the dogs move toward Darian, Taravel rushes to his side and takes a poke at one of the foul hounds with her spear.

Can I use my attack/damage rolls from my last post, which didn't happen?

The goblin dog is pierced by your spear, and dies.

"Well, that should get the goblins' attention," Emyralda comments to Terra as the goblin dogs begin to howl. The young Varisian glances up toward the caves in the cliff to see if any enemies respond to the commotion.

Holding action with crossbow loaded and ready to fire.

"Yeah. Hopefully they take them all out. I'm not that good at shooting this thing. Ah~" Terra says as she tries to adjust her glasses and nearly lets her arrow fly. Whew

If we are still up...

Tara keeps jabbing with her spear at any of the evil hounds.

Between Darian and Taravel, the goblin dogs are swiftly dispached (there were only 5 in that pen). And yet their noise has set off the goblin dogs in the pen across the canyon, and (by the sounds of it) more goblin dogs penned up farther down the canyon.

A few heartbeats later, a small number of goblins stick their heads out of various huts to see what the noise is all about, blinking sleep from their eyes.

Also, a large-headed goblinoid female steps out of the cave onto the ledge above the hill where Tara and Emyralda wait.

I can't access the map from where I am currently at, so I'll have to post it later. But as it stands, you have 1 goblin exiting the hut next to the goblin dog pen where Darian and Taravel are at, 1 goblin exiting the hut attached to the other goblin dog pen, and one female goblinoid steping out onto the ledge.

Emyralda fires her crossbow at the large-headed goblinoid female on the ledge above and quickly loads another bolt into her weapon.

Expending Held action when the goblinoid female steps out of the cave. Standard action to fire crossbow; move action to reload.

Light Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Light Crossbow Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

Number of bolts used: 3/10

Rolls from above are 19 to hit, 5 damage. If you rather me roll again, then that is fine.

"Gyah!" Terra Squeaks in response to Emyralda's action. She then turns to the direction that she shot and fires at the same goblin.

"The other pen, quick. We don't want them letting those dogs loose on us. I'll be right behind you."

Not sure where the goblin near us is. Is my weapon long enough to attack him, then move?


Hit by both arrows, the goblinoid woman screams and vanishes.

Darian: No, you would have to move to attack him.
Terra and Emyralda: The woman was at Y7. Although she vanished, she more than likely went back inside the cave opening.


Listening to Darian, Tara begins the trek to the other kennel holding the dogs. Getting rid of them before the goblins could react would be the wisest move.

head toward the other grouping of dogs, hoping to eliminate them before the goblins realize what exactly is happening.


Taravel:
A 40' move won't get you quite to the next batch of dogs, but will put you within 10' of a goblin (g2). You could longspear him.


oh, okay, let's do that then!

Seeing a goblin near her trek, the barbarian takes a poke at him with her spear. She could always get to the dogs later.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Darian hustles and plants himself behind one of the goblin houses keeping out of the open.

Only moving this round. Going to square N6 with a 5' move (which is a full round triple move)


The goblin, half asleep is surprised by Taravel, and falls to her longspear.
Darian moves up near her, and the goblin dogs in in the pen in front of them set up a renewed frenzy of howls.

The other goblins drift around, trying to discover the source of the disturbance. A few more goblin stick their heads out of huts.

Felix drops the goblin by the pen you just left with an arrow.

Emyralda takes a step to get a clearer view of the goblin village and fires her crossbow at a goblin as it exits its hut (goblin g6).

Emyralda's bolt barely misses the goblin, but he doesn't seem to notice it as he stands blinking in the sun.
