Rite Timekeeper
Aura overwhelming transmutation; CL 21st
Slot none; Price --- gp; Weight -
Description: This brass pocket watch ticks away eternally, never needing to be rewound and appearing to be little more than a device to keep the time. It is in fact an artifact gifted to a sage, himself a victim of circumstance and ambition.
Three times per day a character may manipulate the winding mechanism to produce several different effects.
Winding the gears counterclockwise charges the user with a temporal stasis spell that discharges when they next physically contact a creature (Fort DC 22).
Clicking the mechanism once creates a time stop that lasts for 5 rounds and that can affect one additional, willing creature within 30 feet, chosen by the user.
Winding the gears clockwise creates a haste effect that grants a +4 dodge bonus to AC and reflex saves to recipients of the enchantment, in addition to the other bonuses the spell provides.
Finally the user may click the mechanism twice in rapid succession, causing a small, insulated bubble of time to surround them, allowing him to move just a little more quickly than normal while the world around their "time capsule" remains unaffected (the enchantment ends as soon as the time piece is moved from its position when activated). This last enchantment (which has no finite duration) holds the true intentions of the creator, and Rite Timekeepers are greatly valued by scholars and sages all across the planes for the miraculous effect they generate. These devoted scribes often find their workload triple or quadruple after receiving one however, and often end up maintaining the same pace in their scholastic pursuits that they had before acquiring the artifact.
