Why not do one big 12 volume year long AP that goes from level 1-20?
More than enough time to get there and more than enough room to expand on anything you want to.

Because having 2 Adventure Paths a year has many advantages that outweigh having only 1 a year.
The biggest being if you don't like any one AP, you only have to wait 6 months for the next one rather than a year.

Thank tou all for the tremendous feedback !!! :-)
I understand the commercial problems and everyone POV , but one thing hasn't been considered ...
if a poor GM ( who likes PFRPG very very much and is GMing because he's the only one who voluntereed for it ) has no TIME to write a sequel to the AP , what could he do ?
Maybe the option to write one or two high level adventures could be a viable one , without ruining the AP schedule
Thank you again .
Paizo is doing a great work . "Trial of the beast" in my group is a success . Our favourite greeting , when we meet for the session , is "BURN THE BEAST !" instead of "Ciao" ( usual greeting in Italy )

That makes sense.
I didn't mean switching over to 12 volume APs forever but I think doing it once and ending up with a super detailed mega campaign from level 1-20 would be pretty sweet.
I'd be stoked about it anyway.

James,
Do you think there's room for the possibility of some AP overlap? A one-time anniverssary-style celebration AP that runs for an entire year with 12 installments, but after #6 there is still another AP that starts up in the traditional format? Even if a kickstarted needed to be run to help comp some of the costs?
I know the main problem is manpower, but I feel like Paizo has a pretty strong stable of authors that it might be able to work out if it was a one time event. But that's just an outsider's perspective on something like that.

Kickstarter isn't really necessary for Paizo, and wouldn't solve the problem anyway, since changing the point in a product's lifetime when the money comes in doesn't change the fact that if that money comes in all at once, the cash flow isn't there to support the day-to-day costs of running a business.

Has there ever been any consideration into the odd trilogy AP? Sometimes a DM wants to run more than a single adventure, but not a whole AP. I think it would be great to see some 3 issue trilogy arcs that span several levels, but don't require the level of time and commitment that running a full AP does.

Crypt of the Everflame/ Masks of the Living God/ City of Golden Death come to mind.
Also, the new supersized modules will take PCs from (for example) 1st to 6th level.
