Adapting APs for Eberron

So I thought I would add to this post. I love the Pathfinder AP and don't care for Golarian (or Pathfinder for that matter). I absolutely love Eberron Campaign Setting, and my now system of choice is Savage Worlds.

I ran a four year Carrion Crown campaign (I was using 5E for it) setting it in the Eberron Setting.

Carrion Crown:
I placed this AP in Karrnath. I plop in Lepidstadt and Ravensgro right into Karrnath cause whynot, the map was never meant to be exhaustive in Khorvaire.

I swapped the Whispering Way for the Emerald Claw, and yes they absolutely were working for the Lady Vol. I took what suggestions have already been made here in ultimately making Lady Vol a sympathetic misunderstood villain, but that wasn't revealed till the end.

I pretty much used most all the adventures as is, with my own custom tweaks. I had a player who in his backstory wanted his dad to have been part of the formation of the Emerald Claw, so his father and sister became high ranking players in the story arc working to the ends of Lady Vol.

Ravengro was a small town in the northwestern part of Karrnath. Lepidstadt I placed in between Atur and Korth. Broken Moon happened in the Night Wood. Illmarsh was a small fishing village on Lake Dark.

In between Broken Moon and Wake of the Watcher I had the party stumble on the an ancient library. Turned out to have bit of draconic prophecy there. The library was owned by an ancient green dragon. They never learned by this was a hidden home and this was non other than Vemonfang himself.

In Ashes at Dawn (taking place in Korth) in the vampire den, I had the party run into Kaius III. Kaius did not reveal himself as a vampire, but clearly the vampires followed him and deferred to him.

I completely scrapped Shadows of Gallowspire. I ended the campaign with the party traveling to Xen'drik to the Ring of Storms. The final ritual was happening at the heart of Siberys. Venomfang was there as well. My ultimate plan was that Lady Vol was going to be brought back to life, when she was, she was going to activate her dragon mark. Doing so would make her a god. A god of death that would actually shepard and care for the departed souls unlike the Keeper who hordes them. I planned that WHATEVER the party did was, what was meant to happen top make this end happen. When she "transitioned" she clearly thanked them for playing their part in the prophecy and where rewarded.

Where I to do it again, I would likely do just a smidge more globe trotting rather than keeping it largely in Karrnath. I would play up the draconic prophecy even more and from the beginning.

In the interest of keeping the conversation going, here are a number of ideas (influenced by this thread and others) I've considered for some of the APs. Not the "stupidly huge mash-up" versions, though, as those are WAY more involved...

** spoiler omitted **...

With Savage Pathfinder and the Rise of the Runelords coming out soon to Savage Worlds this conversation interests me more.

While Xen'drik for an ancient Giant Empire definitely fits, I don't like the idea of adding Sand Point on Xen'drik. Lore has been pretty clear that all attempts to settle cities outside of Stormreach (except for Dar Qat) have ended is disaster.

That being said I love the ideas that you have presented.

Some of the other things that I was thinking come from ideas from Exploring Eberron. Where maybe Xin-Shalast is in fact a Demiplane. Given this the giants could be changed to anything and be placed anywhere in Eberron. I have thought about placing it in Thrane and the influence of the Runelords actually be the influence of on of the Overlords.

I got the "Extinction Curse" AP as part of a Humble Bundle a few months ago. I'm planning on running it in Khorvaire, but Aroden has me in a bit of a bind. Part 2 has the players in his dilapidated temple. He is quite significant to the backstory.

:
Aroden stole the orbs that make up the towers on the story from the troglodyes in the underground. He also infused them with his energy, and when he died, the magic began to fail.
So the question is, who is Aroden in Eberron? All the world's major players are either evil or not on Khorvaire. Eberron's gods are also not an option.

Could go for Malleon the Reaver? The one who genocided a lot of goblins.

Haven't read through Extinction Curse, so this is just me spitballing without fully knowing the specific context, but maybe rather than trying to tie it to one of Eberron's religions, perhaps make it something secular in nature.

For example,

Spoiler:
rather than Aroden, perhaps these actions were taken in secret by the nation of Galifar early in its existence - something done to help artificially stabilize the newborn empire, but requiring periodic maintenance that ended abruptly when Galifar tore itself apart with the outbreak of the Last War. Perhaps the rulers of Cyre kept up with it (being the line that was supposed to inherit the throne of Galifar), but that ended with Cyre's destruction in the Mourning.

On a much longer timeframe, maybe it was something done by the dar of ancient Dhakaan, and has been slowly failing since the fall of their empire.

Obviously, this is mostly just brainstorming and will need more work to properly integrate anything into the story (if it's even feasible - again, I haven't read through Extinction Curse), but I tend to find it easier to think in broad strokes when trying to adapt adventures/APs made for other settings to Eberron.

Sorry I missed this for so long.

Yeah, in order to make this work, my general concept of Xen'drik has admittedly drifted a bit from canon - no additional cities, but giving Stormreach a somewhat larger region of control on and around Skyfall Peninsula and a handful of outlying villages/forts that have managed to survive, at least thus far. I certainly wouldn't try to transplant all of "civilized" Varisia into Xen'drik, but I don't think a few smaller settlements change things too much.

Thanks a bunch! I like brainstorming this kind of thing.

So I have been noodling for some time how I would convert the Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path to Eberron. While there are some old posts out there on the idea, most are just ideas. My notes ended up becoming a bit of a guide. I thought I would post this on Reddit, as even though it is quite detailed and a bit of a guide, I still have some questions that I am looking for ideas from others on. And any general comments to make improvements any way. I started this specifically on the Eberron reddit page to get more input from Eberron lovers, but thought I would post it here if anyone else wants to join the discussion and help out with completing this.

Guide to setting Curse of the Crimson Throne in Eberron

Dark Archive

I have a lot of ideas on how to covert Curse of the Crimson Throne to Eberron, mostly coalescing around a straightforward "Korvosa-as-minor-city-state" version and a more expansive "Korvosa-as-Breland" version, which I gave a surface level overview of in a post earlier in the thread.

In general, I like the conceit of "Korvosa-as-Breland" a bit more despite it being a far more involved project, but I've actually been doing more work on the more "straightforward" version of late, for reasons that actually have little to do with CotCT itself.

Namely I've been working on an Eberron Savage Tide conversion as a personal project for some time, and to my eternal frustration, I cannot help but integrate more and more material into it when I find them thematically relevant and/or useful for fleshing out various story elements. It's absolutely massive at this point - I think the most streamlined version of the outline at present incorporates material from at least six different adventure paths/modules on top of the original STAP - to the point where it's pretty much just a writing exercise rather than something I could ever hope to actually run, but in the interest of making the initial hub city of Sasserine more relevant and relevant for longer, I've been blending in story elements from CotCT's Korvosa and Green Ronin's Freeport.

While my version of Sasserine/Korvosa isn't a part of Q'barra, I have it located nearby on Dreadwood Isle, the southernmost island in the Lhazaar Principalities just across Tempest Straight, and there are a number of story connections I've made to Q'barra as well, so the version you're working on with Korvosa-as-Newthrone isn't all that far off from some of the stuff I've been doing, despite you being substantially more sane and not succumbing to the allure of scope creep like me.

I feel like it wouldn’t take much work to entangle the events of both Gatewalkers and Stolen Fate into the Draconic Prophecy.
