More cute things. ^_^
Maybe something tribble like, but less troublesome. Would make a supercute familiar.

Well we do have a lot more fire and ice based creatures then we do lightning so more electrical based creatures would be cool.

A ice or lightning based Nightmare sounds more like a variant we would get in a revisited book.

ALL the monsters from the new Osirion-based AP bestiary please!

I really love the wall-monster, mini-phoenix, scarab swarm (though it must be more like in the movies), the heat-absorbing salamander creature and the living scroll!!

Amazing artwork for amazing creatures! They should become real-paizo material so put them in the Bestiary 5 please!!!!

Also Raiju should join the bestiary monster list so you guys can use it in adventures! And dear lord Skrik Nettle is waiting for ages already! Put that thing out of its ignored missery and give it shape in a bestiary so we can encounter that thing outside Kingmaker!

DIABLO II & III monsters I like to see

- Plague Nest: A horrid vile bat monster transformed into a living nest that spawns smaller bat-like horrors from its flesh.

- Skavenger/Leaper: Small horrid carrion-eaters with sharp claws that burrow through most natural stuff and which can make terrible leap-attacks.

- Decayed: Monstrous mummy-like monsters that explode into a poisonous cloud when you kill them.

- Herald of Pestilence: Horrible deformed monsters of which one of their arms end in a centipede-like creature that it sends through the earth to attack enemies from afar.

- The Sin Generals: 7 1-of a kind monsters that are the generals and incarnation of the 7 deadly sins.

- Tormented Stinger: Scorpion-like horrors made from tortured humans, deformed beyond horror.

- Armored Destroyer: Rocky-demons that take the form of meteors and fall from the sky.

- Grotesque: Fat zombie creatures that explode when you kill them and then they release terrible maggot creatures.

- Fallen Lunatic: Suicide minions that can make their bodies explode into vile gore and sharp bone-parts.

- Dune Shark: Sharks-like demons that swim in sand.

- Soul Ripper: horrid deformed demons that walk on all 4 limbs and which use their terrible whip-like tongue to draw you closer.

- Phase Beast Horrid demons that use teleport and are incarnation of Sloth.

- Lacuni: Sand lion/panther folk that use whips, poison bombs and other strange weaponry.

From diablo 2 there are: Vile Mother, Scarab Demon, Slime Prince, Blunderbore, Fingermage, Corpse Spitter, Frozen Horror and Demontaur (demonic minotaurs)
And most notable is the Putrid Defiler, a horrid demon that stings other demons and lays eggs in them so when you kill the demons they spawn horrible demon-spawn from their corrupted souls.

There are probably more but I have to go now so I continue later.

Tribbles would make terrible familiars, since they reproduce constantly they would be a cuddly swarm or at least a hazard. But I have no problem with cute creatures regardless if they are harmless or deadly.

Wouldn't Lacuni just be catfolk with special weapons?

Just an idea here, but what about a "savage" template, something to add to humanoids or such that would make a monstrous/brutal form of them
We have a savage template in Mythic Adventures that seems to fit your description

Yup, although they're not dumber than usual.

On the subject of lycanthropes, sure, it would be great to see more, but in the end, the template has everything for us to make our own rather easily. I few rule clarifications should be done though, like why a werebat can fly in hybrid form, when hybrids don't use the animal's speed(s), and in the same vein, why can the werecrocodile in hybrid form can swim and NOT the wereshark.

As for werevermins, I see this more as a variant. you know these alternate versions we can do with certain creatures? A werevermin, or "entomothrope", could simply be a variant. For instance:
- wereeagle
- wereowl
- wereraven
- werefox
- weremantis... or spider... or scorpion... or wasp (whatever), with variant description.

As for lightning-based monsters, the Raiju from one of the APs didn't get ported into a Bestiary yet. For other monsters, we already have the thunderbird, the lightning elementals and to a certain extend, the garuda. I can't think of any other creatures, aside from living thunderclouds abnd humanoid-shaped lightning bolts.

Nuberu would be a cool high level fey creature that would definitely fit the bill as a lightning/weather fey. We definitely don't have a lot of weather-themed fey, so I'd love to see him.

Also, I just beat Maldita Castilla, which is an awesome freeware game akin to Ghosts and Goblins without the b##@$%%% "beat the game twice for true ending" aspect :) That has a lot of folklore from Spain in it, including Nuberu.

Silver Crusade

Inu-gami: A horrible canine monster, either undead or outsider. The method of summoning one speaks to either CE or NE. It gives those who control it great wealth and power, at the cost of being an outcast, and the risk of being attacked by the beast.

Teju Jagua- A seven headed fire breathing creature with the body of a lizard and heads of a dog

Cadejo- Either helpful and nice, or evil incarnate

Definitely adding these to the New World Bestiary I'm working on at the Arcadian Brainstorming thread.

I would also like the Inu-gami though I would like it be an outsider instead of an undead.

I agree Odraude, we don't have enough weather themed fey. I would also like more fey themed on light, summer, fall, poison/venom, frogs, humming birds, snakes, runes, crystal, wind, cacti, etc.

The most famous weather based mythological missing creature is the vila from slavic myths. Ive already mentioned the cadejo multiple times and then nobody cared..

Planetnik and anemoi are also cool weather creatures

I like the idea of the Nuberu because he can be fey without holding out to the stereotype of fey (youthful, sexy), yet still be capricious. Like a cantankerous old man.

Odraude wrote:

Not really, cuz Catfolk are kinda kind creatures, I want evil versions with huge ponytails and whips.

Demonic Tremor: Is another enemy from diablo I like, its arms can be used as living wall to block attacks or to smash things.

Also in that game from you Odraude Maldita Castilla there is a worm-like boss I see in the pictures. Is that also from folklore or myth? What is it called?

I see a Spanish bogeyman and the Manticore and that wind spirit you are telling us about.

Is there also the most famous Spanish myth in that game? The red bull Aatxe?

Catfolk can be of any alignment really. And they can have ponytails and whips. I just don't see anything that would really make it stand out from a normal catfolk.

I don't know what the Zarrampla is. Never heard of it, but doing a cursory Google search shows that it's a Castilian boogeyman folktale.

A small size catfolk-like monster would be interesting though the oni version of catfolk should be at least medium size.

Brazilian myths

Alemoa — the ghost of a blond (German-like) woman that is connected to the island of Fernando de Noronha. She is said to seduce imprudent men and carrying them to death. Alemoa is a nonstandard way of pronouncing "alemã" ("german female" in Portuguese).

Anhangá A spirit that often protects animals (especially the females and young ones) and tends to appear as a white deer with red eyes. Often mistaken for Anhanguera due to the words being similar, however the Anhanga is not considered a devil, though it was feared. One legend involves an Indian who tortured a young fawn so the screams would attract the mother. When she came near, he killed her just to realized that the Anhanga had used an illusion and he had just killed his own mother.

Anhanguera Equivalent of the Devil.

Cuca — menacing, supernatural, old hag that does evil things to small children who do not go to bed early.

Curupira — a (male) jungle genie that protects the animals and the trees of the forests. It has red hair and backwards feet to confuse hunters. Hates hunters and lumberjacks.

Cobra-Encantada (Enchanted snake) — a beautiful woman shapeshifted into a hideous snake to guard an immense treasure. One who breaks the spell will have the gold and marry the maiden.
Cobra-Grande (see Boiúna).

Encantado — someone who is magically trapped into another dimension, living an eternal, but unfruitful life (usually a punishment for pursuing riches at any cost or doing some wrong).

Exu — a demonic, trickster or simply mischievous (depending on the tradition) supernatural being of African origin that is worshipped by the Quimbanda, banished by Umbanda, exorcised by Catholics or ignored by Kardecists.

Homem do Saco — literally, "Sack Man" or "Bag Man", a mid-aged or elder drifter who visits households in search of naughty young children for him to carry away with him, in his sack or bag. When the Sack Man happens to knock at a house whose residents have a naughty kid that they no longer want, these parents give the Sack Man their kid, that he puts up in his sack and carries away forever. This story was told to children as a way to make them behave and respect their parents, under the fear of being given away to the Sack Man if they didn't act good.

Iara — a type of freshwater mermaid (Centre, South-East, North).

Iemanjá — the Afro-Brazilian sea goddess.

Jurupari — another Amazonian jungle devil.

M'Boi — Serpentine god of the river. Responsible for the Legend of Iguassu Falls; the folklore, mystery and beauty. The story of Taroba and Naipi fighting the rainforest and disease. Iguassu falls is one of the great wonders of the world at the corner of Brazil and Argentina. a must see.

Lady in White — the most widespread type of ghost seen in Brazil. Urban legend.

Lobisomem — the Brazilian version of the Werewolf.

Mother of the Gold — a powerful and lethal being that protects gold ores. Nobody has survived seeing it, so no description exists. It is usually seen from afar as a globe of fire that flies from mountain to mountain (South-East).

Mapinguari — a large, bipedal, furry animal that wanders the Amazon jungle. Considered the Brazilian version of the Yeti or the last memory of the now extinct giant sloths passed through generations by the Indians.

Maní — the name of an Indian girl with very fair complexion. The legend is connected to Manioc, a woody shrub of the Euphorbiaceae native to South America.

Pisadeira — An old hag that wears sneakers and stomps over people's stomachs at night making them breathless. Usually appears when people go to bed on a full stomach.

Saci Pererê — a mischievous single-legged black elf-like creature who is blamed as the culprit of anything that goes wrong at a farm (Centre, South-East) and is the mascot of Sport Club Internacional (South). The Saci is known as a trickster and usually appears in farms inside wind swirls. If someone steals its red cap he'll exchange it for a favour.

Cabeça Satânica — The wandering head is a widespread Brazilian ghost story of European origin. Appears to people that wander alone in the night as a stranger with its back turned to the victim. Its body melts to the ground and only the head with long hair, wide eyes and a large mischievous smile remains, hopping or rolling towards the victim.

Since we have half-celestial and half-fiend templates, we really could use half protean/chaotic outsider and half-axiomite/lawful outsider templates.

I agree about the 0HD bunny race and aberration race.

I would like the Wolfwere.

A magical beast or aberration that has four bladed legs that it uses to jump on it's enemy. The bladed legs may also inflict bleed or be coated in poison.

Boitatá — a headless giant snake with bull horns and enormous fiery eyes that crawls over the open fields at night. Sometimes described as a giant fire snake. Looking at its eyes blinds people.

I really love this creature! I've read somewhere that if it eats someone it can look through the victims past life.

Also the Hidebehind (strange name I know) is a very awesome creature! Many potentional.

Weredog (you are your own best friend).

Psychopomp Creature (template, like Celestial, Entropic, Fiendish and Resolute).

Half Chaotic outsider and Half Lawful outsider.

Half Psychopomp.

Mecha-Godzilla... er, Kaiju construct.

Wannabe Demon Lord requested I post some African creatures. Personally I suspect there are a lot of reprints here in the below list, as Africa appears to be even more poorly represented than North America in available information, but hopefully there are some new creatures here:

The ones I know are already in pathfinder and which I would like to see in bestiary 5:

All the lizardmen in this list are awesome of course!

Abada = I've seen them mostly as small unicorns, looks like young unicorn but isn't young but just a small pony-sized unicorn.

Adjule = Lol these look very cool in Resident Evil games! Their bodies split in half and forms a giant maw.

Adze = I like their firefly thing, but I dislike the shapeshift abilities, hope to see that changed into a monstrous vampiric firefly that can't shapeshift and instead of blood drains heat and bodywarmth to make it unique.

Inkanyamba = Already in pathfinder, as giant king of snakes.

Kishi = Sounds very interesting! Read about it somewhere but forgot about it probably because it was in such a huge list with other new creatures.

Lau = I've seen this creature a couple of time, mostly it was a giant catfish with electric control.

Mamlambo = Read and seen somewhere this were the famous Goliath Tigerfish that ate brains.

Migas = Flat fish like creature? Sounds like a stingray or manta based monster, also may be related to the El Cuero.

Nguma-monene = Sounds like Dimetrodon or Spinosaurus.

Obambo = Already in pathfinder as nature spirit.

Pamba = Can you give me more info on this creature? I can't find it.

Rompo = With enough chimeric-creatures and enough scavengers I hope to see a different rompo, a strange mammal that can control its bones and make them pierce out of its body much like Marrow from X-men.

Yehwe Zogbanu = This is new to me, and WOW that is amazing! Thanks for this!

Found this creature, sounds awesome!

Quote:

R is for Raktavija

This gargantuan Hindu demon teamed up with other demons to deal an assortment of horrors all over the place. Raktavija had the grisly charm that if ever his blood was spilled, another Raktavija would spring up from every droplet! Eegads, that's a problem! He sounds like a really infuriating level boss for an old Nintendo game or something. Anyway, Kali was eventually sent to deal with this b#&~$#!% bastard - finally coming up with the idea to drink all his blood and then kick his ass into oblivion. Nice.

It's funny, I actually wrote up the Raktavija on my google drive. Looking at him, could probably turn down his HP some.

Raktavija being Gargantuan would be overpowered for my taste.

I think this creature would make a good Rakshasa-breed.

Large size, the blood-copies would be medium size replica's of the creature to make it somehow not that overpowered.

Also the creature can preform spells on its own blood to create the duplicates, so not EVERY drop of blood will become a totally new Raktavija as that would be too easy to create an endless supply of these creatures making it too easy to create huge armies of the creature. maybe the blood copies die after some hours/days/minuts to make it less impossible to beat the creature.

THe name Raktavija sounds a bit like the Raktavarna...

Actually I made him Medium sized and CR 1 to fill in the minion role for Asuras. Still a mean little creature. Could spawn 1d3 clones whenever hit with a non-good or non-cold iron weapon, but there was a hard limit. Cause constantly spawning would be waaaay too much to deal with.

Playtested was fun and only really needed to turn down their HP some.

I agree it would work as Asura and lower level (crazy spawn-fest) monster as well.

Many things can be done with the Raktavija.

Nurikabe is a Japanese Yokai in the form of a living wall.

I agree with that familiar list Mystic Snow_fang.

I think Mome Raths and Borogroves need to be in it!

I don't have any of the volumes of the Mwangi AP, so wasn't sure which things had been statted up and which of these hadn't yet been.

I really can't find much info on Pamba either...although I imagine it as sort of a massive monstrous tigerfish.

Obviously I still need to do a lot more work on African mythology and folklore

Thanks for the list, MMCJawa. Africa really is under represented, though. And damn hard to research. Still, excellent work.

Cool creatures. Where did you find the Abonsam and Abiku? Those are the only two that are specifically from Africa.

I always thought Adramalech would be a great Archfiend of some sort.

Aerico is Greek (Modern)

Abonsam is the Sabosan from bestiary 3 or the Asanbosam, a tree vampire with large claws that cling to branches and hang upside down to grab creatures below them, they have steel teeth.

Are there any monsters that wield either their progenitor or progeny as weapons?

So you want a monster that uses it's babies and/or grand parents as a club;)

robert best 549 wrote:

Asag the rock demon uses it's rock offspring as minions.

Two new monsters:

1) In Basque mythology, Gaueko is the spirit of the night. He does not allow humans to do certain works outside the house during the night. He especially punishes all those who try to show off as brave in the night, boasting of not fearing the darkness. He is considered to be a devil in some accounts, a jentil or gentilic divinity in others. In some cases he makes his presence felt as a gust of wind, as he pronounces these words: Gaua Gauekoarentzat, eguna egunezkoarentzat ("the night for Gaueko (the one of the night), the day for the one of the day"). Sometimes he appears in the shape of a cow, sometimes in that of a monster.

Comment: Cool, if you cut the cow stuff and add in another cooler creature such as a shadow badger or other shadow horror, the Gaueko could be a darkness inforcer that wants other creatures to fear the night and darkness, when they don't he will attack them to show them they should fear the darkness.

2) Chamrosh is a bird in Persian mythology said to live on the summit of Mount Alborz.

Chamrosh is described as having the body of a dog with the head and wings of a bird. It was said to inhabit the ground beneath the soma tree that was the roost of the Senmurv. When the Senmurv descended or alighted from its roost, all the ripened seeds fell to the earth. These seeds were gathered by the Chamrosh, which then distributed them to other parts of the earth. There is a description of the Chamrosh in the Persian Rivayats: "The Creator Ohrmazd has produced on the shores of the sea Vourukasha a tree and two birds who are immortal and without death. Every year a thousand new branches spring up from that tree and all kinds of seeds hang on those branches and all those seeds become ripe. A bird called Amrosh comes and sits on one of the branches and shakes it and scatters down to the ground all the seeds. Another bird called Chamrosh comes and strikes all the seeds with its wings and sides and throws them into the sea. All those seeds go inside a cloud full of rain and that cloud rains on the ground and all the seeds appear on the earth."

Chamrosh is the archetype of all birds, said to rule and protect all avifauna on Earth. According to the Avesta, Persia is pillaged every three years by outsiders, and when this happens, the angel Burj sends Chamrosh out to fly onto the highest mountaintop then snatch the pillagers in its talons as a bird does corn.

Jewish mythology sometimes equates the Chamrosh with the giant bird Ziz.

Comment: Cool, a griffon variant that mixes wolf/dog with eagle.

A caffeine monster... God knows I need one right now

Not sure if I've responded to this post or not. Here are the entries I would most like to see in Bestiary 5:
Dwarf
Elf
Gnome
Half-Elf
Halfling
Half-Orc
Human

Why should they be excluded just because they are core races? I realize that there are some human pirates and whatnot, but no basic, general, entry has been done yet.

Actually having fiends based off different drugs wouldn't be that bad of an idea
-Caffeine
-Alcohol
-Meth
-Cannabis
-Heroine
to name a few

The NPC codex (series?) pretty much does the job, with far more room and variety than can fit into a bestiary

Mbói Tu'i has the form of an enormous serpent with a huge parrot head and a huge beak. He also has a red, forked tongue the color of blood. His skin is scaly and streaked. Feathers cover his head. He has a harmful look that frightens everyone who has the bad luck to be found with him. He patrols the swamps and protects amphibian life. He enjoys the humidity and flowers. He lets out an incredible powerful and terrible squawk which can be heard from very far off and which instills terror in all who hear it. He is considered the protector of aquatic animals and the wetlands.

And a big no to the player races in the bestiary 5, especially the humans and half-stuff.

Kesaran-pasaran (Japanese) - Mysterious, white, fluffy plant creature if you catch it you will be very lucky! The pokemon Jumpluff is probably based on it a bit.

And here I was thinking there weren't any jellyfish monsters in mythology...

Kurage-no-hinotama (Japanese) - Jellyfish which floats through the air as a fireball.

Silver Crusade

Thank you Humon for bring this lovely to light...

Sazae-oni- A sea snail monster that turns into a women, sleeps with men then steals his testicles and turns them into pearls. If he gives her gold, she'll give them back.

Yaksha- A creature that can be evil or romantic, depending on how it happens to be feeling. It's a sort of nature spirit

Rangda- A "demon" queen from Bali, has a very very very long tongue

I wouldn't mind seeing some actual cherub/cupid type angels. Maybe developed from the souls of children who died before their time and didn't end up twisted by the experience. (like babies who were well loved, well cared for and the like but just happened to die before they grew up).

EDIT:

Just found what they're called. They're called Putto.
