During and immediately following the second Kickstarter, crowdforging was presented as a formal process, with polls where we would select from pre-determined options. After watching these forums for a while, I'm convinced that crowdforging is already well underway without the polls.
The devs are posting blogs, we're discussing every point in each blog at length, and we're seeing the devs' positions evolving in response to those discussions. We're posting our own ideas, and getting feedback from GW. The amount of passion that's being poured into a game that we won't even get to play for a year or more is very impressive to me.
Personally, I don't think we'll need a formal crowdforging system to feel like we're having an impact on PFO's development. I think it's happening right now.

We are doing what we are doing as a speculative exercise that may or may not influence the direction of the game's design and development, but I feel quite confident there will be more formal crowdforging when the designers are at a decision point that could go in more than one way.
I think it is better like that really because they do need to seriously stick to their design.
If as a committee we tried to design the perfect horse we would end up with a camel, and not a horse at all.

Make that a Honey Badger and I'm on board!
Fk yeah puns!!!!

I am really quite suprised at the frequent posting of Ryan, Stephen, and occasionally Lisa and Lee Hammock. Mike Hines popped in after the artwork blog post as well. I think this is the way of the future, getting your paying customers to help fund the game(s), design the games, debug them once playable, and testing (like the Pit Fighter tests coming up later this year). These are exciting features.
It would be nice to see another poll to help determine something....even though I am not an official Goblin Squad Member yet. Even if I can't vote in the polls yet (maybe), it is fun to see things grow and develop.

There have been enough ideas put forward by forumgoers that have later featured in dev blogs that either crowdforging is producing the same results as professional design by convergent evolution, or the board discussions are formal crowdforging.
I'm sure Nihimon just posted links with dates to several dated posts which proposed systems along with links to the later blogs which described those systems as being incorporated...

I think of it as more akin to developing 'use cases' than crowdforging, generally.

I'm not gonna complain if you wanna build up my myth, but you should really get used to the idea that I'm not very active on the weekends. Especially at two o'clock in the morning :)
