Bout One
ROLG VS. JOHNNY

Male Human Sorcerer 3

Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

ROLG THE RED

According to the rules, it looks like Rolg will begin in L.10 (with Johnny in A.11).

Out of the darkness of the southern entrance stomps a fiery-maned dwarf so short and stocky he looks like a square. Every short dwarf joke you've ever heard comes to mind with this guy, but at the same time, he looks so solid the jokes would simply bounce off of him and collect at his armored feet.

As he steps into the light of the arena, he shields his eyes and looks around at the arena, the fans, and finally his opponent, giving a nod of satisfaction to it all. He is decked out like some kind of martial christmas tree. Well-polished four-mirror armor reflects the bright light of the arena, a trio of polearms balance across his right shoulder (held lazily in place with a spiked-gauntleted fist), a single shot-size flask of liquid is clenched in his opposing spiked-gauntleted fist, and a small armory hangs from an array of slings, hooks, and sheaths all over his body. And that's not even accounting for the strange symbols, items, and pouches hanging from his belt.

short-hand weapons list (for anyone, spoilered to keep the narrative up-front):
Four-Mirror Armor, large steel shield (on back), scroll case, holy symbol, spell component pouch, belt pouch, 3x lucerne hammers (all currently held), Dwarven Waraxe, Large Dwarven Waraxe, 2x spiked gauntlets, 10 chakram, 4 nets, clothes and a cloak.

The dwarf stops for a moment at his entrance and watches his opponent. Then, he shrugs and sets down two of the pole arms he was carrying, planting the butt of the third in the white sand at his feet.

Arbiter:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Initiative 8

Can I get a description that includes anything Rolg could see (or anything not specifically being hidden (via a Sleight of Hand check). :)
I'd like to know what it is I face.

And it looks like you win initiative. So it's your turn with your Surprise Round.

Male Human Sorcerer 3

Johnny steps out into the pit, clad only in robes, and with pale tattoos writhing across his thin, dark body.

As soon as he spots his opponent across from him, he lets out a war-cry, twists his arms, and sends a barrage of four purplish projectiles at Rolg in the shape of fists. Then he scurries the short distance behind the pillar to his left.

Spell, followed by 5-foot step to B12. 16 damage to Rolg.

Spellcraft DC 16:

magic missile (as if you couldn't guess)

Rolls:

4d4 + 8 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 1) + 8 = 16
And yes, I really cast that at CL 7.

ROLG THE RED

Master of the Pits:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

The barrage of arcane missiles slam into Rolg, knocking him momentarily back onto his heels.

Surprise Round

Master of the Pits (Arbiter) ruled that a character can delay his surprise round to gain a full set of actions before the opponent's actions in round 1… so that's what I'm doing.

Round 1

Rolg's eyes narrow on the dark man hiding behind the pillar, and a series of dwarven curses are muttered to no one in particular. He drops the vial in his left hand as he hustles across the arena, preparing a response.

Master of the Pits Only:
Swift to activate Judgement of Healing
Move to F.11
Readied action PM'd to you.

Move to F.11. Drop vial in F.11. Ready an action.

You're up.

Male Human Sorcerer 3

Johnny hears the shuffling of Dwarven feet approaching him from the other side of the pillar. He takes a deep breath, dashes out into the open, and launches another barrage of missiles.

Move to A9, cast the same spell. 17 damage.

Arbiter:

4d4 + 8 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 2) + 8 = 17

ROLG THE RED

Casting the spell triggers Rolg's readied action…

Rolg points at the caster and shouts a few piercing syllables. The sound from the dwarf's mouth is amplified a hundred-fold inside his mind, threatening to interrupt his own spell.

Spellcraft DC 16:
Ear-Piercing Scream

Master of the Pits:
2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6

You take 6 damage and are dazed for 1 round (meaning you can't complete your spell). A DC 14 fort save will reduce the damage in half and remove the Dazed condition. In this case, you should need to make a Concentration check DC 13 + your spell level or lose the spell.

Once all that is resolved – barring anything unforeseen – it should be Rolg's turn.

ROLG THE RED

Also, for my own convenience... MAP

Male Human Sorcerer 3

Spellcraft:

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Fortitude Save:

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Johnny staggers back under the assault of the unfamiliar spell, and his arcane words and gestures falter as he finds himself unable to act.

Yikes. Your move.

ROLG THE RED

So is that spell slot lost for you? If you had missed the concentration check, it would be, but in this case, I'm not so sure. I'm more asking for my own benefit.. I genuinely don't know.

Round 2

Rolg steps toward the dazed caster, exploding up to twice his size at the same time. His face contorts with rage as he slams his monstrous hammer down on top of his opponent.

Master of the Pits:
Swift to Enlarge!
Step to D/E.10/11
Lucerne Hammer Strike!
.
Lucerne Hammer 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
---> Damage 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 5, 5) + 9 = 21

Doubles in size. Steps to D/E 10/11. Attacks with Lucerne Hammer.
Attack 26; Damage 21

Your turn.

Male Human Sorcerer 3

If I was dazed by a readied action, I think I never actually tried casting, so I shouldn't lose the spell slot. Although...

Already weakened by his foe's spell, the hammer's mighty blow crashes into Johnny's body, sending him careening into unconsciousness.

Well played!

ROLG THE RED

True, but logically, that would happen at the same time as the damage (which would have made you lose the spell slot had you made your save but failed the concentration save). But I guess it doesnt' matter in this case.

Rolg is fully in the grips of the battle frenzy. His hammer rises and falls another four times, pounding out a deep, resounding series of booms for the fans... as well as splattering the sand and wall with jets of dark blood.

Finally, the feral side of the dwarf's brain (which is clearly in full control) seems satisfied that his opponent is no longer a threat, and he releases his strangle-hold on his own adrenaline.

He walks to stand over his fallen foe, gasping for breath as he kicks the pulpified corpse with his boot. With a nod, he raises his blood-spattered hammer high, takes a few turns to the crowd, and roars a few victory laughs.

Happy with his first outing in this new arena, Rolg shoulders the polearm once again and swaggers back across the arena sands, pausing briefly to pick up the abandoned vial.

Lol. You, too. It was an eye-opener to get blasted with 16 points of Magic Missile damage in the surprise round... got serious real fast! Good game!

Guys, I actually clapped out loud. That was an awesome one, well played both of you.

In regards to the loss of a spell slot, since the casting of the spell is what triggered the readied action, the slot is definitely lost.

ROLG THE RED

Oh, and 4 CDGs' to amke it official

Master of the Pits:
3d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 4, 1) + 9 = 18

Damage = 18

Master of the Pits:
3d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 5, 6) + 9 = 22

Damage = 22

Master of the Pits:
3d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 2, 2) + 9 = 15

Damage = 15

Master of the Pits:
3d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) + 9 = 14

Damage = 14

End of Bout One
VICTORY TO ROLG

He certainly had me going. Had he made that save (and the followup concentration check, this might be a very different ending).

.
Glad we could entertain you, Arbiter. :D

Challenge Bout
VIRONUS VS. BASHA

As Vironus enters the Arena, he seems fixated on his target, looking at nothing else but the man who will either end his life, or fall to the blades he carries.

As this tall and dark haired man enters the arena, little can be seen of him behind the large shield he carries.

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Gung-Ho Lunatic

"The crow cries and BASHA appears"

Get ready to get stomped

Initiative:

Spoiler:
1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (17) = 18

18 your up first

Map for reference.

I'm currently in L10

Dropping his shield where he stands, Vironus paces towards his target, drawing his two weapons as he advances.

Move to F11

Vironus actually begins in L10, combatants begin on their left side of the middle lane.

Moving to L11 is fine, though.

Gung-Ho Lunatic

So I'm in A10
Full of anticipation the BASHA moves to engage, drawing his weapon while closing in.
Come here you Pixie!

Arbiter:

I draw my sword as part of my move action and stert my rage as a free action

move to A11

EDIT: no wait I meant I move F10

Gung-Ho Lunatic

Ok then I move strait towards Vironus at full speed to G 11, unless he already occupies that square, in wich case I stop in F11.

Vironus grins, as the giant brute approaches

As he gets closer, Vi slings out a swift strike.

Arbiter:
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Attack: 21
Damage: 4

Edit: reworking this as Basha changed his move.

Now with the brute in front of him, Vironus attacks with both blades simultaneously.

Arbiter:

[ooc]Attack 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Vi is in F11, with Basha in E11

Attack 1: 19, 6 damage
Attack 2: 20, 6 damage

Official Arbiter version of what just happened, because there were some edits and mind changes and things got confusing.

BASHA started in A11, then moved forward to E11 (directly in front of Vironus), while getting angry and drawing a sword.

Vironus, feel free to edit or re-post based on these actions. You must keep your attack and damage rolls if attack and damage are rolled.

Gung-Ho Lunatic

Yeah I'll wait until Vironus decides what he does, got to go do something right now will be 20 mins before I can post again anyway

EDIT: seen your Edit Vironus
both attacks hit

"MUAHAHAHA...you hit like a girl, human"

arbiter:

I make a Full-Attack as well.Wild Fighting no less.

Hit:8 + 1d20 ⇒ 8 + (3) = 11
8 + 1d20 ⇒ 8 + (2) = 10
Damage: 19 + 2d6 ⇒ 9 + (4, 6) = 19
29 + 2d6 ⇒ 9 + (6, 5) = 20

Oh common...bad rolls

Attack 1 hit 11
damage 19
Attack 2 hit 10
damage 20

BTW you don't get an AOO if I move into a square you threaten, only moving out of it would give you one.

But whatever 4 damage doesn't matter to me:)

Man, I wish you didn't change that because now I'm confused, ha. I've done the AoO and both of my attacks for round 1 now. See above. :)

Back in around 2 hours btw.

Yea, Jenova just said I got one during the edits. Should be 12 damage to you as that 4 was on the Aoo Jenova said I got before you edited. Both attacks that weren't AoO's did 6. Let's not edit posts now. :-P

Well at least I'm not ugly!

With that Vironus takes two more swings at the towering beast.

Arbiter:
Attack 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 1: 16, damage 9
Attack 2: 16, damage 2

Vi takes a 5 foot step directly backwards.

Both of your attacks miss btw.

Gung-Ho Lunatic

Ok I'm back, and both your attacks hit
"WHAT...Nobody calls me ugly and lives. DIE LITTLE MAN" BASHA screams while swinging his sword in deadly Arcs, as Vironus words seem to hurt him more than his puny swords.
5-foot step towards Vironus

Arbiter:

Full Attack Wild Fighting

HIt:
8 + 1d20 ⇒ 8 + (6) = 14
8 + 1d20 ⇒ 8 + (10) = 18
Damage:
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 5) + 10 = 16
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 3) + 10 = 17

"crappy rolls agin"
Attack 1:Hit 14
damage 16
Attack 2: Hit 18
damage 17

Both attacks miss Vi.

You will meet your end in this arena today!

Vironus continues striking out at his opponent, with nothing but victory in his mind.

Arbiter:
Attack 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Attack 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Confirm crit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Attack 1: 26, damage 5
Attack 2: 10, damage 7

Attack 1 crit: 22, damage 7

The AoO was on a movement that did not actually take place as per the official ruling, so we're ignoring it.

So far, Vironus has hit BASHA 5 times (one of them a critical), for a total of 35 damage.

Gung-Ho Lunatic

Aaargh annoying little stings:) Shouldn't the crit be 10 damage?
Oh and I think both attacks hit

BASHA shrugs of the everything the nimble human throws at him ignoring further slices that open gnashing wounds across his mighty chest.
"MUAHAHA....YOU CAN'T STOP THE BASHA"

Arbiter:

Wild Fighting again

hit:8 + 1d20 ⇒ 8 + (12) = 20
8 + 1d20 ⇒ 8 + (14) = 22
Damage:2d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 2) + 10 = 18
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 3) + 10 = 19
EDIT: If that last crit was 12 Damage then I would have needed to activate my Ring of ferocious action I think, because I would have been at negative hitpoints. Would have been a free action anyway though.

Finally...see if that'll hit ya

1 Hit:20
dam:18
2 Hit:22
dam:19

The critical dealt 12 damage. Extra dice are always rolled for critical modifiers, as opposed to simply multiplying final damage.

Aww man, so unlucky with those last two hits! Good game! I think I'd have had you next round.

Vironus, caught off guard for a split second, took two attacks that sliced deep through his chest, severing arteries as the momentum carries them.

I will meet you......a...ga...in.

Vi drops to the floor, face down in the dirt and sand, in a crimson pool of his own blood.

Gung-Ho Lunatic

Ah ok then

So you are dead already? Not even half time for me bro.:)

I could have lasted a lot longer

I thought you'd be on 41 life max, not near 80 lol. What the hell. Your con must be far higher than +4, because assuming you're a barbarian, you have 1d12hp, 1 favoured class. Then for life past level 1, you have 1d6+1 + your mods if I recall.

I'm breathing but unconscious.

Gung-Ho Lunatic

So you live? In that case the match is still on, because I might accidentally kill myself before killing you.(Yes you read that right:))

Arbiter:

Confusion save for reducing vironus to zero hitpoints

DC 9
WILL 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (18) = 20

If that fails confusion roll to determine my action

1d100 ⇒ 39

Ahh made it, looks bad for you then. I make a Coup de Grace

Arbiter:

I lose 1 hp and use another charge of my ring. Then coup de grace.
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 4) + 10 = 16
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 4) + 10 = 17

33 damage DC 43 fort or die
I think I won. Bravely fought Vironus:)

Meta-ing but down by a little. We're only level 3 so your 37 damage was enough to drop me lol. I need to know how you have so much life for future reference. :-P

Gung-Ho Lunatic

BASHA don't tell:)

Your double sided blade tears straight through one side of Vi's body, splitting it down one side.

Haha, well fought Mr.ogre XD

End of Challenge Bout
VICTORY TO BASHA

Bout Two
TRIHEDRON VS. VIRONUS

As Vironus enters the arena, shield in hand and blades still sheathed, he looks around to see little to no crowd at all.

Disheartened by his last two losses, he looks fourth towards his opponent and shrugs.

A thaa our' kurur zhaant az pourzh! A gaarh kakkark nurrk hazrkat urrhrhurrarkth. Thkann, azwakah our'h gazikurho azkazarthk la, nak'th 'azga az tharg kurkak'ah!

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Female
Stats:
AC 19 T 19 FF 17 | F +7 R +7 W +10 (+2 to saves vs Poison, Spells and) | Init +4 | Perc +14 (+2 bonus to Perception vs unusual stonework. Free check within 10 feet)
Status:
HP: 43/43 | barkskin (self only, 1 ki) | Perfect Strike (2d20) (5/5) | Ki Pool (8/8)

Ok, so if I am correct, Trihedron is starting on L10, correct?

Feet planted firmly on the ground, bow in hand, the dwarf is a mask of stone, his face expressionless. But when the man on the other end of the pit addresses him in dwarvish, a hint of surprise crosses Trihedron's eyes - he offers a short nod as a confirmation.

Arbiter Only:

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Initiative: 5 Yes... FIVE :D

You're up.

Ouch lol, and nah, you come before me in the alphabet, so you're up in A10 and I'm down in L11. Also, shame this isn't a full round, as I could have closed the gap!

Ever cautious of what may happen, Vironus steps behind the closest pillar, slipping out of sight.

He hasn't literally disappeared. He's just behind the pillar and so from where you stand, you can't see him. :)

He headed to K9

Arbiter:

Action 1 - 5ft Step to K9 behind pillar (you've said this is allowed in a suprise round, so I've done it). :)
Action 2 - Vi plants his shield into the ground as a standard action and grants himself total concealment, facing to the right side of the map

Vironus begins in the south (L10, not L11), Trihedron begins at A11.
This means Vironus stepped to K09 instead of K12.

Edited for you. I knew he was in A, but I thought as you said we start at opposite ends, diagonally from each other in alphabetical order, that he was in A10 as he's first, and I was in L11, being second, in alphabetical and numerical order. Got it anyway. :)
