Rash of duplicate threads

Hey guys ... so since there has been a rash of duplicate, rehashing threads lately ... I'd like to bring everyone's attention to the search function.

It's an ingenious thing that allows you to put in an idea of what you want ... say Boons, or even scenario specific titles, and it will bring up every thread back to the beginning of time (or pfs time) that that item has been mentioned in.

Many time your question, concern, etc., can be answered by reading one of those old threads. This allows the message boards to be used for more constructive topics and discussions; and avoids the need for everyone to re-state their case.

I would suggest giving that a try before starting yet another thread on an old topic :)

Sorry, if this is from me, I know my darkness and light thread was similar to older discussion. I thought it was prudent to put the post with the Venn Diagram where people who weren't reading that one GM thread would see it while also providing a place for discussion so it didn't overwhelm the GM thread. Now, that said, I do wish that the other very similar darkness and light thread in the GM section that was started hours later had just been added to mine instead.

I admit, it has been a bit frustrating at times to open the messageboards and see the same 5 things having a new thread opened about them.

At the same time, it sometimes can lead to new revelations, and some people might be afraid of re-starting a thread that is months old to ask a new questions, afraid they won't get an answer.

But all in all, I agree with you PFCBG, it has been unfortunate to see people opening new threads when I could have sworn their question was answered in a different thread a week ago.

I wish I'd been on hand when you started this thread yesterday because I would have made another thread saying almost exactly the same thing. But now your thread is most of a day old and the joke would be stale.

Another thing to do before you open a thread is to First look for you answers in the following places, and do so carefully, not just skim them.

The vast majority of PFS specific questions can be answered in one of the following places:

Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play - Most questions can be answered here.

Pathfinder Society Frequently Asked Questions - Clarifications of PFS rules can be found here and additional rules.

Additional Resources - The "is it Legal?" questions can be answered here.

Compilation of message board clarifications for PFS Rulings - Clarifications made by Paizo Organized Play staff posted on the boards can be found here.

If after you have looked in all those areas and you still have not found your answer then is the best time to post on the forums, though even then most likely you still will find yourself directed back to the above resources...;)
