Using Kingmaker to foreshadow Reign in Winter (Spoilers for Snows of Summer)

Kingmaker

Lantern Lodge

So I plan to use my player's kingdom as the starting point for Reign of Winter and I know several other people have mentioned it. How can I best foreshadow this while running my Kingmaker campaign? How would you adapt Heldren to fit in the Stolenlands? And what plot lines would you leave in the aftermath of the Winter Witches temporary invasion? Also how would Narissa few such an invasion?

Haven't finished reading it yet but I also plan on running Reign of winter after Kingmaker and will start it off from the PCs kingdom as you can start it from anywhere really. I'll give you more thoughts onthis when I get my hard copy on monday...

Ditto. One member of my group is already clamoring to play Reign of Winter, so starting from my Kingmaker campaign's finish would be a nice tip of the hat to them.

Actually looking at the Reign in Winter stuff has been an incredible boon. Its so well written, the fey stuff is mind blowing in how helpful it is, and generally Heldren looks completely transportable to somewhere near the Narlwood, you could use Tatzlford in its place with ease. I'm planning to set the beginning whilst the players are off saving Varnhold. From that point on I'd have the hex that was infected as a bastion for Winter Fey, and maybe have the Player Kings have options on what to do with those left behind.

I totally agree lots of stealable elements from RoW for kingmaker if one is so inclined. If you love Baba-Yaga a little less and ran something moddish like what Orthos or I did with Winter and Summer Fey Jim Butcher style you can easily play with the issue being entirely Winter Court fey based.

Well you could play up Baba Yaga's connections to the Fey as well, which she does have plenty. Slavic mythology in particular is something that could also be easy to play up during the course of both campaigns given the connections of Brevoy, Irrisen and Iobaria to Russian styling.
