Hey guys, I am sure the answer to this is somewhere, but I'm in the military and away from all my books (and very low on free time). The situation: I'm playing a wizard in a campaign with some friends (when we can), and we are following all the rules for pathfinder society. So, my question: Can I use the money from adventures to add spells to my spellbook between adventures, assuming that some NPC or whomever sells me access between adventures? Or can I only learn spells from scrolls and spellbooks found during adventures (I know the 2 automatic spells a level are an exception to this).
The guy DMing it seems to think I can only get access to spells from spellbooks, but considering how I just got access to second level spells, and the only spellbook we have found only had about 2 second levels spells, both from my prohibited schools.... it just doesn't sound like a good way to run wizards, making them be that dependent on loot for their core class feature. Alright, thanks for the assistance!

Sure. you can. what you do is buy scrolls and note the purchase. And then use the standard rules of learning spells from scrolls and note the costs of scribing those scrolls into your books.
This is no longer true, check the link jiggy posted. You only need to pay to "borrow" an NPCs spell book, the cost paid to do this is half the cost of scribing the spell into your own spellbook.
it costs effectively 1.5xthe cost to scribe the spell normally.
IE a first level spell is 10gp to add to a spell book, and an additional 5 gp to borrow an NPC's spellbook to scribe from. Costing a total of 15gp.

Makron - FIRST - thank you for your service!
Second - Wizards can copy spells from other PC wizards during the course of a session, assuming they have the materials. When a Wizard goes up in level, they acquire their spells from the libraries/vaults of the Pathfinder Lodge. Hence they don't appear out of "no where" in between games, you can choose the spells you want between session when you go up in level.
Third: Wizards can purchase scrolls and copy the spell into their spell book. I think this uses the spell on the scroll, but I am not positive on that.

It only destroys the spell on the scroll if you're successful in copying it; if you fail the Spellcraft check, the scroll is still intact, and you can try again in a week.
But as Benrislove stated, you no longer HAVE to use scrolls, as you can pay for access to an NPC's spellbook to copy from, so copying from scrolls really only really applies to scrolls you find during the adventure.

It is now MUCH cheaper to get new spells. Before the FAQ, wizards had to purchase a scroll of a spell and then copy it into their spellbook (destroying the scroll in the process). Now wizards just copy from an NPC spellbook. All you do is figure out what spell/spells you want, take 10 on your spellcraft check, and pay 1.5 x Scribing Costs. Done. Easy. CHEAP!

I cannot find in the rules where it says a 1st level spell costs 10gp to scribe into a spellbook...
I see a table in creating magic items that says 25gp for 1st level...this table: Table: Scroll Base Costs By Scriber's Class
