This seems to be a unique AP. My group switches GMing between me and another. One of our players expressed that he wants to give the GM seat a try. How "GM beginner friendly" is RoW?
For example, Kingmaker and Skull & Shackles were IMO not GM beginner friendly. Rise of the Runelords and Legacy of Fire were.
Thoughts?

Hmmm, well. The AP travels a lot and as it seems so far, we won't get recurring NPCs beyond the first two modules. That's generally beginner friendly.
OTOH, the locations are wildly different and the new GM has to do some research to represent them well, so that will cause some work. He also has to learn the cold weather rules in and out for the first module ( after which I think everybody will be sporting Boots of the Winterlands, anyway ).
I'd say it looks beginner friendly. One big factor in making it better for beginners is that there seem to be no new sub-systems like ship combat or caravan rules, which always cause some problems.

Like LoF? How so, if you dont mind me asking?
This isn't entirely well-informed, as our knowledge of RoW is incomplete, but:
- both have a strong environmental grounding (desert/heat vs tundra/cold)
- both have a strong cultural grounding (Arabic vs Russian)
- these groundings are strong enough to make certain types of weapons/magic so much more common than others that you should make sure to plan your build around them
- both are a "road show" where the PCs don't stay in any one place for very long and have no real chance to put down deep roots with recurring NPCs/locations
- both are "long distance road shows" where the PCs go to extremely exotic/nonstandard places
- both are very fast-paced where it looks like the PCs will go from levels 1-18 in about 6 months of gametime or less
- both look like they'll have the problem/feature of "I can't buy stuff from magick shoppes" in books 4&5
- neither use any subsystems, which are very common in other APs (e.g. Fame, Kingdombuilding, Plunder, Caravans, etc)
- both introduce you to the BBEG somewhat early on in the series (which is uncommon in other APs)
Now, there's differences to be sure. But if I try and figure out which AP that RoW will be closet to, it's more like LoF than it is to any other one.
Full disclosure: I'm a huge fan of LoF, and I am pumped to also be a big fan of RoW. :-)

Personally, I hate magick shoppes, and as a player I greatly enjoy the constraints of having to use the treasure I've found. (But you can't do that alone in party...)
I know that some people thought of magic-item-shop restriction in LoF was a bug, but for me, it was a huge, huge feature.

Yay! Im not an alien!
When I play DDO (an MMORPG) my favorite guild raid night is when we all go in buck naked, and can only use items that drop from monsters we kill, it's hilariously fun! By the end of the raid we are all usually fully euipped with weird looking stuff we would not normally have on on characters... too much fun
