I just made it up as in the southwest. Getting eaten by Cindermaw was a low point in the whole AP. The paladin made all his saves, crit to get out, and it was a 1-round borefest.
Honestly, I had a bunch of wyverns attack the group and try to take out the truthspeaker, and that fight was a lot more fun than the Cindermaw encounter.
So put it somewhere where they can travel for 2-3 days to get to know the truthspeaker; that portion of the roleplaying was loads of fun. The Cindermaw encounter was pointless. The 2-3 day ride back was awesomeness as well.
Focus on the journey, not on the destination.

Oh, no; I can see some groups having a blast. My group was just, "We send the paladin out to deal with it," and he very quickly ticked it off enough that it ate him.
So I apologize for my bias/bitterness. But yeah, it's on one of the maps, and I just went with that.
