As they say, your character is the end game.
I will continue to be building a lot of background for my main character and right now I am planning to use this name for that character. There are pros and cons to this strategy but I really want a character that will be familiar to both me and other EE players when we start.
There are pros and cons to this idea. What are you thinking of doing? Will you be naming a character in PFO with you messageboard name?

I want to be able to say the things on the forums I think should be said without concern that I'm skylining my ingame character(s). Second, my characters should be known in game by what they do in game and not what I do outside of the game. Ergo I expect to name my characters something other than 'Being' or 'Being the Forest'.
Those who know me will know me.

I would like it to be possible for people to see my overall account username in addition to my character name, since that seems most practical. But since I don't think many people take Kobold Cleaver seriously, anyway...
...I'll probably go with a simplistic character name. For my Rovagug druid, I'm thinking Grickin. "Kobold Cleaver" just isn't really a name for a character, it's a name for a yappy forumgoer.

To paraphrase something @GrumpyMel has said in other threads, there is a difference between the player and the character. In my case their names are the same. After this post any in character comments I make will be in italics, especially when I start posting journal entries in the Nettles thread on what happens to Harad Navar (and the people he meets) on the journey to the Crusader Road.
As much as I have been interested in the intellectual exorcises of game mechanic debate, I'm in this for the story. My character would like to become familiar with characters he might meet in the game. My character in character will be looking for people with which to develop an in-game context. Whether this is with or against remains to be seen.
I invite people on the PFO boards to create some forum aliases for their characters and start to tell their character's story. There are some, who shall remain nameless, who have a legitimate in character reason for not revealing a lot of detail, but you don't have to give anything about race, gender, alignment, archetype, or ability scores. You can start to build the in-game flavor and feel I think we are all looking forward to well before we get a chance to play.
Any takers?

Grickin |

Yeah, sure.
Grickin is a druid (with ranger/barbarian elements, probably) and worshipper of Rovagug. Chaotic Neutral. Grickin is generally very civil, and often likes to protect merchants from bandits and the like. Effectively, he behaves as if Neutral Good.
However, he may on occasion act just a bit off. Furthermore, he is utterly comfortable with the "swift-approaching end of days", and this can be a little disturbing to those who know him.

Cool concept, but with the way alignment seems to work in this game, if you behave like you are Neutral Good, then you will likely BE Neutral Good.

I've heard it stated that we'll be able to turn off the default "drift". I think that's how it should be--evil isn't the unwillingness to do good, good is the unwillingness to do evil.

Gloreindl is my PFS character's name, and I am not yet sure I will use it in PFO, but it has a long history, as it was the name of my second D&D character back in 1980, and I have always had a character with that name running in some FRPG. I have a background story for both my main and Destiny's Twin, but names are still a WIP. Besides, I am thinking I am too annoying to allow people to know my names ;)

Arlock Blackwind |
When I first started gaming some Odd 25 years ago. my first game was startropics. if you played that game you know you cannot fit a whoal name onto a playthough title. so I made up a name useing a code. it csme up Arlock. years later I found the joy of anime. favoite one was an odd one call outlaw star. name of the main char was jean Starwind(english translation). I often use Starwind and Blackwind (a term commonused by magus/janus) from chono trigger. to follow my Arlock name. So Arlock Starwind (goodguy) Arlock Blackwind (badguy). I have also used Deathwind but only for AQworlds, Arlockrune for wow. Even my gamer tag on Xbox is Arlock Starwind. over two decades of refining a charactor name story and backround it cannot be helped but to have many incarnations but the original and possible most resolute icon will always be Arlock. I do not think I could ever use anything else in my game.
