Ok, many MMOs have taken on cooking. Some have even tried to add flavor to it :p. I would love to see a complex cooking system with a huge variety of materials, meats, herbs, spices, vegetables as well as recipes that must be discovered ie. no recipe books at start!
To give an idea of how I was thinking it might work, I considered breaking the recipes down into stages or levels. Beginning with say a potato, tossing it into a fire would be an example of a level 1 recipe. As would taking chicken and putting that in a fire. A level 2 recipe would be taking. Potato and combining it with say butter and bay leaves and a pan on a fire or in an oven, or chicken combined with wine and herbs in a pan over a fire or in an oven. Level 3 could be a pan, with potatoes, chicken, butter and some herbs and wine in an oven. Each level could provide increasing bonuses. It could even be further broken down into each food type providing bonuses in specific areas and when combined could increase to give greater or longer lasting benefits.
It would be very easy to generate recipes. The herbs, even though it would require extra coding, could also be used in alchemy.
Obviously this isn't something that needs to be a priority above, we'll above much of anything. But I think it would add richness to PFO that has been missing from MMOs recently.
So, what do you all think? Good, bad, ugly?

If they involve that kind of depth in all crafting skills, then I'm all in.
That's the goal, Wurm depth crafting. Maybe not AS hardcore, but as deep. I would love to see multiple materials for all levels of recipes, instead of just "wood" allow oak, ash, elm, maple all level 1, then move on from there. A more SWG style material system where resource quality, influenced by type (luck) as well as by the skill of the harvester combine to produce a resource of a certain score, the better the score, the better the end result item would be.
But I'm deviating far From the topic, as usual :p

Backstab berry muffins
Defamation sweet rolls
Bitter rye of vengeance
Curry fury bread
Broken spine pretzels
Sour taste in your mouth dough
And I thought to get my pizza dough from you, kinda scared of what may end up in it now :p. Pathfinder trail pie, a stuffed pizza filled with chopped steak and wild boar, tomatoes, onions and garlic, cave bear sausage and hot peppers loaded with mountain goat cheese! Yum!

Crafting a recipe: I'd like to see the 'code' work out like a mad lib:
Take x adjectives and x nouns +1 sauce: make a skill check, and if successful, that Recipe gives a +1 somewhere.
Make your own recipe:
Spicy
Marinated
Sauteed
Broiled
Fried
Baked
Barbequed
Grilled
Steamed
Potato
Cockatrice
Giant Lizard
Halibut
Dragon Chuck
Pizza
w/ salad
w/ soup
w/ side of fries
a la carte
in red sauce
in white sauce
in butter
in peanut sauce
in soy sauce

I have seen alot of cooking craft in games most default to you fint meat then you get cooked X meat. I kinda like Wuhans idea. it is simple and could be fun to play with not to mention to add a little flaver you could set up each prefix or suffix of a meal could change the given buff. like say a spicy (constitution) boar meat (health regen) in buttersause (+1 hour time bonus). if you really get creative you can give your character a favorite meal or prefix/suffix so his bonus is a tad stronger or lasts longer and to counter it he could have a food alergy or unfavorite meal prefix/suffix. of course this could be unlocked using a merit badge in cooking skill or maybe upon charicter creation witchever is good for the devs. It would also make sense to be able to change it over a long period of time cause you know taste buds do change over time.

If hunting allow us to gather not only pelts and other material but also meat that would be great!. Boars could be source of both pelt and meat , maybe even the bones and teeth could be useful for something.
I woud like to see options like swrimp (from the river and lakes), several kinds of fish (some sort of fishing mechanism to be worked as a low priority feature in the future), even crocodiles have a part of their tails that is used for cooking (and they have a resistant hide as well). Even creepy giant bugs, such as spiders could give something for exotic (high level) cooking (and poison, web glands, exoskeleton for armor and shield etc). I can imagine something like "giant spider legs soup" being available for the ones brave enough to try it...
Herbalism could help, allowing not only to collect medicinal herbs but also spices, roots, fruits, nuts and other vegetables for cooking. And Murshrooms, oh definitelly! We need murshrooms, some for food and other for medicines (poison as well)!
Actually speaking of poison, poisoning food and drink could be allowed in the future as a form of assassination!
Many possibilites... All this food talking just made me hungry!

Interesting idea, sounds pretty good! Luckily in PFO they don't have vaccines so no food allergies Yay!
