Summoners and the Eidolons Who Assist Them

As one of the myriad Summoners in the PFS I had a question about Day Jobs:

Since the Eidolon is for all intents and purposes a full character in their own rights, complete with stats, skill ranks,a hopefully fully formed personality, and are always with the summoner when they're conscious, I was wondering if it should be able to use the Aid Another action when the summoner is rolling their Day Job. I can understand why other players wouldn't be allowed to render Aid as, they have their own lives in between chronicles, but an eidolon is the main feature of the Summoner class.

Yeahs or nays?

I'll try to find the link to the campaigns previous response, but only the summoner is allowed to roll. Aid Another is not a permanent bonus, so it does not count towards a Day Job.

Permanent bonuses from equipment, feats, racial bonuses, and traits effect your Day Job check as they would any check for the rolled skill, but temporary bonuses such as those granted by spell effects do not contribute, as the duration over which the Day Job check is made is undefined and represents a longer amount of time than a spell’s duration would permit the bonus to remain. You may take 10 on a Day Job check, but you may not take 20 nor can you aid another.

This also came up before with a ranger that wanted their pet to perform as their day job.

David has the right of it. This was also discussed before when synthesists were legal. Someone wanted to get the skilled evolution (+8 to a skill) and then use that skill for a day job, their argument being that they could just be fused at all times they were making checks.

The official response is:
"The Eidolon is not a permanent effect, therefore does not apply to day job rolls."

Cool beans, I haven't been using it. I just wanted to make sure I was maximizing my extra gold potential :D

The same clause goes for rangers with the hunters' lodge vanity and an animal companion. Even though it'd be logical, the animal companion doesn't aid you, mechanically at least.

On a simular note, can you buy vanities for your eidolon. I'm seriously thinking about buying a position in the eagle knights for mine, especially if I made the Eidolon an officer and the summoner enlisted.

Wait, shouldn't the thread title be "Eidolons and the Summoners who assist them"?

Technically, no, vanities are for the character (who is the one who has earned the prestige points). Cute role-play idea, though! If you purchase the vanity, and it comes up, check with the GM, he/she might like it enough to run with it.
