Wanting to make a modern world flare spell or magic item

Aliens is one of my favorite movies and I always liked the visual effect of tossing a bunch of flares into a darkened room.

In our Jade Regent campaign I'm playing a wizard who is also an archer and during one session I thought it would be cool to cast light on my arrows and fire into the darkness... except you can only have one light spell active at a time, as soon as you cast another the previous one winks out.

So basically I'm wanting to either create a spell, obviously higher than 0 level, that will allow me to do just that OR work out a way without using permanency to create magical flare arrows to have the same effect I'm looking for.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. of course if this spell/item already exists I'm going to facepalm

Step 1: Toss Alchemist's Fire
Step 2: Cast Pyrotechnics, selecting the "fireworks" option.
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit

(Adventurer's Armory also has various fireworks)

Oh, sorry, you want just light to SEE by, not a flash-bang to blind or dazzle your enemys ...

Try casting Dancing Lights ? Throw a sunrod ?

EDIT: From my reading, you can have both the cantrip Light and the cantrip Dancing Lights going at the same time, you just can't have TWO of either going at the same time. Unless you need a range of greater than 100 + 10ft/lvl, you can have the dancing lights streak from you out to 100 ft in one round, so they're not as fast as a fired projectile, but can still almost like one if you want.

Continual Flame, if you can cast it yourself (a lvl2 spell), will set you back 50gp per flare created. Maybe if you put it on the arrowhead, you'll be able to recover it and mend the flarrows for future use.

If you're going to do that, Petty Alchemy, start with a durable arrow and dispense with the mending (although you will have to cast the continual flame again).

The Exchange

You could toss a torch down a hole.

Not sure if this is legal but I figure if you memorize more than one light spell you should be able to maintain one per spell memorized. From a game balance stand point I can see limiting them so you can just light up everything in range, but each spell memorized should be usable while the others are going.
