+1 to Othniel! Whose to say Iroitti doesn't offer the PCs some troops, for an appropriate price of course, that are a bit too happy to stick around once the fighting stops. Or you could just go with a straight acceleration of the plans.

Perfect. Troops offered, murder of the pcs when they aren't ready, sleeping etc, coup, peace established with the centaurs and offerings of captured soldiers/pcs, high-five and evil heads home to accolades.

Why do I feel like I'm being mocked?

Don't really see it LJ, maybe you're twitchy for a duel like a swashbuckler?

Not mockery, a possible plan for Irovetti. He lends troops to help deal with the centaurs, who try to kill the pcs when they are vulnerable and trusting.

They also could, before that, be loathe to follow orders or endanger themselves. So they are less "troops" and more dangerous "allies" that can't be trusted to guard much of anything.

If you refuse the help, well maybe you lose a hex or two and these troops that would have pretended to join you, dig in and fortify.
