In case you've already seen this, I mistakingly posted it in the PFRGP General section. Oops.
.....Anyway.....
Hello, first time poster here. I hope I'm received with open arms as I really love the system after buying the core rules and gamemastery guide.
What I'd like to find out is if the novels are available as audiobooks.
I suffer from migraines and can't use always screens for eBooks or even be in light so I can't always read the real books either.
If they came as audiobooks it would be awesome. I really want to know their tales but as someone who can't always read from sight (either due to sitting in an unlit room or inability to use screens) an audiobook would be the best option.
As a followup question, I'd also like to know if there's a way to download the digital copy of a book I've previously purchased as a softbound novel. Sometimes I am able to use our iPad without it setting off my migraines. I've bought the books, is there a way to view them digitally as well? Or do I have to repurchase them as eBooks as well if I need to read them in multiple mediums.
The audiobook option is clearly the best but if there's a way to have both other options available without buying both it would help. It wouldn't be a solution to my migraine+reading problem, but it could help.
Thanks in advance, I'm really looking forward to enjoying their stories no matter which medium I end up having to use.

If you subscribe to the Pathfinder Tales line, you get ePub copies of the novels in your subscription.
Epubs of all the Pathfinder Tales are also available here in the shop, including the AP fiction and the web fiction.
Aside from that, the only audiobook I know of for the Pathfinder Tales line is James Sutter's "Faithful Servants" which was done as a podcast on Starship Sofa.

koesherbacon, unless you are a subscriber, you will need to repurchase the ebooks. If you choose to subscribe, you will receive a digital copy (pdf and epub) of each novel on the day it ships from the warehouse.
From an old Audiobook Thread:
I'd love to see this - I'm personally addicted to Audible.com, as are several other Paizonians - but unfortunately audiobooks cost a LOT of money to do right (one of the reasons they're so expensive). If somebody big approaches us someday with a quality offer, I suspect we might go for it, but I seriously doubt Paizo will be producing its own audiobooks anytime soon.
(Of course, if Lisa DOES decide to build a recording studio, I'll be in there every weekend anyway... maybe I can be fiction editor and chief sound engineer....)
So if you have any big audiobooks producer connections, feel free to have them contact Paizo!
Can I have a link to that Pathfinder Tales line to subscribe?
Here you go: Pathfinder Tales Subscription. Or, you could just click on "Pathfinder Tales" in the menu on the left side of your screen.

Thanks to everybody in this thread for hooking Bacon up with the answers so promptly. I love being scooped by the community. :D
You are welcome! Pathfinder Tales is the ONE section of the forums that I check on just about every day. I am eagerly anticipating the next Pathfinder Tales novel!
As soon as I am able to use the Christmas Card, I'll be picking up the digital versions of the novels I missed when I had to let my Tales Subscription lapse.

My wife had an idea and I wanted to see if it would be legal. I think it would fall into the "Fair Use" category of legality, but don't want to break any laws or take anything away from authors and publishers themselves.
If she were to read the books and record her reading as MP3s, could we share them here? We wouldn't charge anything for the recordings and do it for the fun and benefit of anybody who has already purchased the books. (Though I don't know how we would regulate that).
Could we do that and share the recordings here? Or would that be against the rules and possibly against the law?
Many thanks.

Are there any plans to also offer existing Pathfinder Tales novels or Short Fiction as audiobooks based on this partnership?

Every so often i have to do a long distance drive.....Brattleboro VT to Burlington VT......Brattleboro VT to Boston, New Jersey, Washington DC, and Brattleboro VT to Raleigh/Durham NC.
I have on CD the Chronicles of Narnia, read by Patrick Steward, Derek Jacobi, Keneth Branah, others.....
I also have The BBC's audo dramaitzation of the Lord of the rings, and the Hobbit.
Oh I also have The Game of Thrones, The clash of Kings, The Storm of Swords, The Feast of Crows, and the Dance of Dragons.
Oh yes I also have John Carter Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burrows.
I would love to add Pathfinder books to that group. I would pick them up as soon as I could.

Audiobooks for Pathfinder Tales are still something we're very much looking into, but in the meantime, working with Big Finish on the Rise of the Runelords adaptation has me really excited about these audio dramas! Hopefully you'll all like them as well!
James you HAVE to tell me if Paizo will do that... I'm wasting hours after hours to prepare txt files from my pdf to use TTS to prepare mp3 from my tales collection. If you are going to do that I'd stop this mad project right now...
P.S. I have started (and sometime done) so much stupid works like this with Paizo material (collection of Paizo images, Pathfinder Glossary...) that it's really a pity I cannot share those with other fans for obvious copyright reasons... sometime I wonder what can be present in Paizo fans Hard Disks and what could be the community if we could share everything on which we have worked...

Have you checked out the Community Use Policy? Without knowing the intricacies of what you've worked on, I can't say if your projects would qualify, but there is a means of sharing fan-made Pathfinder content legally as long as you follow the rules of the policy. It's how such projects as Pathfinder Chronicler and PathfinderWiki operate.

That's okay, I didn't really mind. And I do appreciate the link. One problem with Paizo's coverage of GenCon is that my RSS feed from them get deluged with blog posts, at the same time they're announcing important stuff, and I miss it in the crush.
I AM super excited about this, though. I love old-time radio plays, and being able to listen to a RotR game in the car sounds GREAT!
I just hope the quality is there. Because you're only getting the voices, it's all too hard for actors to sound "phoned-in", as many video games have learnt the hard way...

This sounds like good news to me! I love The Thrilling Adventure Hour podcast (A new-time podcast in the style of old-time radio), so a radio-play style Pathfinder Adventure sounds fun!
But... starting with Rise of the Runelords? I am one of the few who are not familiar with the story and I am playing in a RotRL game currently. I'll have to purchase this one (I'll probably subscribe), and let it sit on the shelf for a while until we finish the AP.

How do these things work? Are they files of some description? A CD?
Great question! I *really* hope there will be the option to buy these as a CD!
Yes, those of us who are "technologically impaired" can get these on a CD*. Here's the official word:
Big Finish will produce full-cast and dual spoken word audiobooks in collectible CD and digital download format. The first 6-episode Pathfinder Legends series will be a new full-cast audiobook drama based on the highly popular Rise of the Runelords storyline, with Chapter One, Burnt Offerings, expected to release January 2014, with subsequent releases every two months thereafter. Single-CD releases will be priced at $15.99/£10.00, with digital downloads at $12.99/£8.00. BigFinish.com and paizo.com will offer subscriptions at a discounted rate.
Emphasis is mine.

Question, will we be able to subscribe to the digital download for this?
I know Paizo doesn't do pdf only subscriptions for it's other products but i wonder if maybe this product's nature allows it.
The press release DOES mention that "BigFinish.com and paizo.com will offer subscriptions at a discounted rate." However, it does not specify what format the subscriptions will be.
Hmmm... My gut says no, but I don't work for Paizo, so I'm not an authority. I base my gut on Paizo's history. They have not offered a digital only subscription for any product that has a physical manifestation. They have never offered a digital only subscription for any product that is only available digitally (Web fiction, I'm looking at you and wanting a subscription option).
So, there's my rumormongering. Anybody else want to monger along with me?
