Levels of Success

Homebrew and House Rules

My current group is having issues with the standard, hit or miss, style of play.

Are there rules, or does anyone have suggestions on ways to add in 'levels of success' as opposed to the old u got a 19, needed a twenty, therefore fail types of things.

Similar to rolemaster etc.

No RAW, but you might do something where if their attack roll hits touch AC but not normal AC, then something happens. If they don't even hit touch AC then obviously that swing was nowhere near close to hitting.

Use touch AC as you hit the target and the shield blocked, parried, armour took the hit. Then use full AC as hitting a chink in the armour or punching through it.

Lantern Lodge

add the hit chance of all the party members together and then devide by the number of players. The total will give u the average to hit of the party. Base the ac of monsters of this average to hit. If u want fight tougher then up ac a tad above average and if u wand fights to be weaker then lower ac a tad from average.

When determining the hit chance of a monster use same formula except instead of party to hit u use there ac.
