Did anyone replace the dread wraiths in this room? I understand the reason for them being here, but:
1) According to the MM they are lawful evil, whereas the original crew surely could not have been lawful.
2) They are large, but the original crew just consisted of (demonic) humans.
3) They speak infernal, which logically should be abyssal in this case.
Though I adapted the alignment and the languages (not the size, though, since they sort of might have grown because of the power of the abyss), I keep having the feeling that this is the wrong monster in the wrong spot.

I can see why the crew have risen as Dread Wraiths, and I love the idea of the crew rising as undead, but can see your problems here.
Personally (and I'm a long way back on the campaign), I would change the crew to have risen as ghosts. The crew have been driven to madness and death indirectly by Vanthus, and therefore cannot rest until Vanthus is slain. Problem is, they cannot see this themselves and still see Vanthus as their leader, so they won't move against him in any way. Still, as written, they alert him to danger and support him against the PCs. I'd also have the ghosts tethered to their corpses in some way, so they're only limited to that part of Divideds Ire.
Applying the ghost template to the Scuttlecove Thugs gives a bunch of CR 10 foes... 8 of which (I think) gives a EL16 encounter.
You could even add the Lemorian template first, but that might make it a bit wierd (and the two may not work well together, I'd need to look into it a little more)

Ghosts might be a good idea, yes. Especially because I have the kinds of players who always try to communicate with ghosts.
The scuttlecove thugs do not have the lemorian template to begin with, so I do not need to add it. (Anyway, it is only given to chosen Crimson Fleet members in a special ritual, not to mere thugs.)
In the module it is suggested that Vanthus can command the undead because he is a death knight, so it does not really matter whether the ghosts blame him or not, they just have no choice but to do his bidding. Perhaps it is even more fun if they do blame him, but cannot do anything about it.
I also like the "battle for control of the undead" between Vanthus and Orgosh and would like to keep that aspect intact. Especially because one of the PCs is a blackguard, who can rebuke undead, which makes this even more interesting :-)
