My new rogue build!

Advice

Grand Lodge

Hi guys!

So, my dragon disciple died last session (failed my save against the death attack from an assassin.. and I still dont even know who hired him >.>) and now I decided to play a rogue. I know its not the best class out there, but I love rogues, so I'll stick with it :D

here goes my build, he will start at 9 level and the campaign will probably end on the high levels:
human rogue (knife master and scout archetypes)
20 point buy: str 10, dex 16, con 14, int 14, wis 12, cha 8
+2 bonus from human goes for dex, same with bonus from lv 4 and 8

favored class: hp, Alternate racial trait: Focused Study
traits: Reactionary, Indomitable Faith

rogue talents:
(2) Finesse Rogue
(4) Combat Trick: Combat Expertise
(6) Weapon Training: Dagger
(8) Resiliency
advanced rogue talents:
(10)Skill Mastery (perception, acrobatics, Stealth, Disable Device, Bluff)
(12)Improved Evasion
(14)Crippling Strike
(16)Opportunist
(18)Feat: Lightning Reflexes
(20)Hunter's Surprise

feats:
(1) Two-Weapon Fighting, Skill Focus: Acrobatics (human)
(3) Improved Initiative
(5) Two-Weapon Feint
(7) Quick Draw
(8) Skill Focus: Bluff (human)
(9) Improved Two-Weapon Fighting
(11) Improved Two-Weapon Feint
(13) Point-Blank Shot
(15) Greater Two-Weapon Fighting
(16) Skill Focus: Stealth (human)
(17) Iron Will
(19) Great Fortitude

In combat I will be sneak attacking mainly in two ways: flanking and two-weapon feint. When necessary, ill throw daggers at distance, especially in surprise rounds to get an easy sneak attack at range. I can also move 10 feet or charge to get a single attack with SA.

the skill focus feats are an important part of the build, as withouth acrobatics it will be very hard to bypass the dc on tumbling. Also, I can afford a low score on cha with SF: bluff, and use the points somewhere else, as +6 to the skill with that feat will be enough to guarantee success most of the time when feinting ^^

Another cool thing is that with 11 skills to choose, I will be usefull in and out of combat, although I wont do very well in conversations, unless I can bluff my way out of troubles :P

So, what do you guys think about my build? I'll be glad to hear your suggestions ^^

get smoke sticks for stealth. get minor magic for grease (for flat footed) and spark (for lighting smoke stick quickly) As soon as possible get a ring of invisibility although I assume you thought of that. I've found archery rogues are actually practical if your interested +1 to stealth per 10ft and if you go sniper archetype thats a +4 to stealth add a ring of invisibility when possible an effective +4 sniper goggles, and farshot +34 to stealth then factor in all your ranks in stealth. But use the top info only if you want to be a knife fighter only.

thanks for the advice! But that build is really feat starved, so it would be hard to put those instead of the feats on rogue talents! About invisibility, I'll use a ring but maybe the party wizard can help with that too ^^

any more advices?

It seems a bit on the low end on damage. Even if you flank frequently, you lose attacks with two weapon feint. Currently you have no modifier on your damage, it's a flat 1d4 plus SA, which is a bit weak to me. If your GM is evil and throws in something immune to precision damage you'll have absolutely nothing. Piranha Strike form the Sargave book is Power attack for the finesse weapons. I advise you take it. Are your stats before racial? Or after?

Grand Lodge

Hey, thanks for posting! I plan to get the weapon enchantment that gives dex to damage later on (cant remember the name right now), also I dont know if piranha strike would be a good option. Its true that my damage would be higher, but my bab is already low, and with that it would get even harder to land a hit on enemies, lowering my dpr. About my stats, that 16 is before racial and level bonuses, with them it would be 20 (with the belt I plan to get, 22)

Outflank (Combat, Teamwork)
You look for every edge when flanking an enemy.

Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +4.

Benefit: Whenever you and an ally who also has this feat are flanking the same creature, your flanking bonus on attack rolls increases to +4. In addition, whenever you score a critical hit against the flanked creature, it provokes an attack of opportunity from your ally.

Precise Strike (Combat, Teamwork)
You are skilled at striking where it counts, as long as an ally distracts your foe.

Prerequisites: Dex 13, base attack bonus +1.

Benefit: Whenever you and an ally who also has this feat are flanking the same the creature, you deal an additional 1d6 points of precision damage with each successful melee attack. This bonus damage stacks with other sources of precision damage, such as sneak attack. This bonus damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.

Combat Reflexes (Combat)
You can make additional attacks of opportunity.

Benefit: You may make a number of additional attacks of opportunity per round equal to your Dexterity bonus. With this feat, you may also make attacks of opportunity while flat-footed.

Normal: A character without this feat can make only one attack of opportunity per round and can't make attacks of opportunity while flat-footed.

Special: The Combat Reflexes feat does not allow a rogue to use her opportunist ability more than once per round.

Forget the fient just tuble to get in to the flank. Or have you buudy do it so you can full attack.

At level 9 with your buld you attack 3 time for +12/+12/+7* doing 1d4+5d8+magic 19-20x2

I would lock at 2 levels of ranger Guild and pick up Rapid Shot to thow more dagers.

Maybe I'm just confused, but where do the feats at 8th and 16th level (with the "human" in brackets) come from? As far as I know, a human only gets a bonus feat at 1st level?

About your build: I don't know your group nor your GM, but I've played a two-weapon-fighting Rogue before and after only some weeks wished I had taken a different build (I entered the game at 14th level, and my Rogue basically got maybe one round of attacks before he dropped--each fight!).

I usually play very Stealth-optimised Rogues (small race, probably Skill Focus and Stealthy, high Dex) with ranged weapons.

Anyway, the main question is: What concept do you have in mind? What are your goals, do you have the right party to complement your concept, and do you think playing this character will be fun? ;)

Best,

3 thing give big damage totals

1)Attck Rate or 3 swings/shot per round
combat reflex, two-weaponfighting, Rapid shot this build could do as many 13 in one round easy

2)BHD or big hand full of dice
Sneak attack dice that D8s need i say more

3)BFN or Big Freaking Numder
piranha strike feat, and Agile Magic weapon abilty (add DEX mod to Damage)

Advanced Race guild Human cheese if you take skill focus at level 1 you then get 2 free more at level 8th and 16.

Thanks :)
