Looking for a proper identity for a player's Witch Patron of Mind

Carrion Crown

Hello everyone!

I'm DMing Carrion Crown with a party of 5. The Changeling Witch in our party chose the Mind patron as part of her class features, and I'm looking to have that patron contact her as part of a personal quest. Trouble is, I can't quite find a suitable patron. Initially, I thought I'd use a Psychopomp like a leveled up Morrigna (since the Witch's name is Morrigan and I thought it'd be funny), but they don't seem to have any mind-powers like telepathy. So, what I'd really like is an outsider that has some pretty substantial mind-affecting abilities, like Dream or telepathy or whatnot.

Any suggestions?

Depending on alignment, there are a few possibilities:

Aegirran (NG) may not be the best fit (giants, sailing), but could still work
Alazhra (NE) is somewhat obvious and could provide some tension (which may or may not be disruptive, depending on the party)
Chucaro (CG) could work for a more whimsical witch
Desna (CG) could also work, and has some connections in a couple parts of the AP
Shei (NG) could work well for an "undead-hunter" witch (hex channeler)

Erecurea (LN), had mind reading as part of her portfolio.

Generally I think any deity with Knowledge domain, Charm domain, or dreams/nightmares in their portfolio could work. And of course the great Old Ones...

The thing is, a patron is explicitly Not identified. The fact that you don't really know where the power comes from is part of what makes it interesting.

A night hag or similar outsider with mind-affecting abilities might be similarly 'connected' to the patron, which itself might not have a separate existence as a 'creature,' being more of a metaphysical thing, like a cosmic (un)consciousness or something.

While night hags, perversely, don't actually have a bunch of abilities that allows them to communicate with people through their dreams, that's easy enough to fix. There's no reason *this* night hag couldn't have telepathy and / or some sort of dream communication ability. (Or the dream haunting ability be flavored to allow communication, in a harrowing Con-damaging sort of way.)

I picked night hag mainly because hags and witches are already associated, and night hags would be the most likely to have some sort of connection to a mind/dream/nightmare sort of 'patron.' Other sorts of creatures are just as possible, such as a psychopomp or protean. Just because the *average* member of such a creature type doesn't necessarily have any useful dream/mind-communication ability doesn't mean that the GM can't rule that this one has a unique-ish ability to do so, perhaps because of it's own tenuous connection to this 'mind' patron.
