Roshan also looks to be of assistance to the voice he had heard earlier. He looks Drea up and down, cocks his head slightly, then removes his cloak and offers it to her.

"I'm grateful for the offer, but I'd hate to make that unwearable if you or someone else needs it to keep warm," Drea says as they make their way back over the rocks. "Given the circumstances, we might want to conserve our resources, and for that matter look for any more we can find here." She glances at the armored arm protruding, motionless, from beneath an enormous rock, and grimaces. "Probably even the ones that might be ... distasteful to gather."

"Oh, and, um, Aravashnial, I'm sure you've realized, but the fight is won. Thank you for your advice. And my thanks to everyone, for that matter."

"Oh good. It did seem you all had the situation well under control, which is good. I'd truly prefer to utilize my resources sparingly, as if I am truly blind it will be quite impossible for me to study any spells."

"If I had my spellbook with me." Aravashnial adds, looking more disgruntled at the lack of his book than the blindness in some ways.

Once the light is brought around the pile of rocks, the group finds three people. The first two are unconscious - a red-headed female half-elf and a husky middle-aged human man dressed in expensive merchant's attire. The last is the source of the wry alto voice. Partially prompt up by a mostly empty quiver, the woman has dark hair cut short and pale skin. Possibly paler than normal from blood loss and shock, as her left leg is currently under one of the rock piles.

She winces as the light comes fully into view, shielding her eyes from the bright. Blinking a few times she looks at the group. A pause, "You might want to let someone else wake those ones up... assuming they can be woken up."

"After what everyone just went through, your appearance might be a bit too jarring to someone with a concussion."

A pause, then almost as an afterthought, with a friendly but weak smile, "I'm Anevia, by the way."

Male Human Sorcerer 5/Dragon Disciple 4 (Archmage 2)

Konstantin watches the end of the fight with an impressive poker face. After it's over, he's still for a second or two, then a tiny nod before he stars moving.

He stops by each of the unconscious people first. "See if this works..." he mutters, touching them on the forehead.

GM:
Spending a charge from the scale for a lay on hands for each of them.

"Pleased to meet you, Anevia. And I will take your very courteously phrased advice, which seems quite wise. But since getting everyone on their feet seems to me like a good priority right now, how about I help get you out from under those rocks?"

Assuming there is no reason not to do so, then, very carefully, Drea starts to try to free Anevia's leg.

The man comes to consciousness, seemingly with a very simlar ringing and headache that everyone else experience, but most of his remaining wounds seem superficial.

The half-elf on the other hand, although seemingly fully healed remains unconscious.

Miril:
Until you rejoin us. Hope you are ok.

Drea is able to move the rocks relatively easily, although the largest one could give her some trouble - unless she uses a fulcrum or someone else helps. However, moving the rocks reveals a leg whose tibia has been broken in two places. When she sees her own leg, Anvia shakes her head - making a sound halfway between a groan and a chuckle.

A) Perception DC 20:
"Why is it whenever I get knock out by evil bastards they go for the legs?"

Konstatin:
As you use the final charge on the scale, you feel pricks of cold throughout the room. Concentrating, you can feel six more scales reaching out in the darkness.

or B) Perception DC 20:
Scattered about the room, you see thin pieces of metal that on closer examination are palm-sized dragon scales.

And Aravashinial, "I also had my staff with me when I came to the Aramasse opening ceremony. Both for my mobility and my magic, it would be useful to see if it survived the fall." Not moving away from his rock.

Male Human Sorcerer 5/Dragon Disciple 4 (Archmage 2)

Konstantin will assist getting the stone off the elf.

He pauses, cocking his head. "This might sound strange, but there are six more of these," he holds up a silver scale, "nearby. They have powers that are extremely useful for people in our line of work." He points to their locations in the room.

I don't think I have anything that will serve as a crutch, but you're welcome to my shoulder if nothing is found." She glances over worriedly at the still-unconscious half-elf. "Unless I'd be of more use carrying that one."

Roshan wordlessly moves to the indicated scales, picking up those unclaimed I am assuming 3 remaining items in a fold of his cloak. He turns back to look at the survivors. Apparently making a decision, he places one next to Anevia, then moving to the red-headed half-elf, places one of the scales atop her abdomen and carefully slides his folded cloak under her head. The back of one hand slides down the side of her face, then holds a short distance from her nose and mouth. He seems to be looking down at her with some concern.

Male Human Far Strike Qinggong Monk 9 + Mythic Tier 2

if others have not yet moved, he would have brought the others closer to the group as well and would have placed them down carefully onto the ground from his cloak.
After making sure there are no obvious wounds on the red-head and that she seems to be breathing, he will hunt around to see if there is anything else useful available in the immediate area.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 umm, I assume this is something I could do a "take 10" or "take 20" instead? He will do so, unless someone decides to move on before then.

Roshan emphatically puts up a hand, then places it on his chest. He looks at the other people there. Then points at Konstantin, Drea and himself, then at the unconscious red-head and Anevia. One hand goes palms up as he shrugs and looks at the others questioningly. Whatever else he might be saying, he does seem to be volunteering.

Male Human Sorcerer 5/Dragon Disciple 4 (Archmage 2)

"Very well, my silent friend," Konstantin says, stepping away from the redhead.

To Drea: "Allow me to bear the elf. Based on the nauseating way you dispatched the maggot, you fight in close. As a rule, I do not. Better to have the injured back with me then."

To Avenia: "May I?"

It takes some time searching the amid the sreet stones and rocks which fell, but Drea does find a staff that is in remarkably good condition. Also wood, mostly shattered, but a few large pieces which had probably been stalls and storefronts in their previous incarnations. And near to where Anevia had been stuck, a bow, dinged, but still seemingly solid.

The Dreamer Lost In Twilight's Embrace:
The cold when Drea picks up a scale is intense, almost painful, like handling dry ice - although it doesn't damage. Emanating from the scale is sorrow but steely control. Slowly, although the chill of the scale doesn't lessen, Drea comes to know what powers exist within the object.

The scale can be used three times per day to activate any of five powers: Cloudwalking, Disguise, Lay on Hands, Resistance, or Sacred Weaponry.

Cloudwalking: As a standard action, a scale can be used to cast levitate with a caster level of 20. A pillar of roiling clouds rises below the levitating object or creature, growing or shrinking with the target's altitude. This pillar is 5-ft in diameter (regardless of the target's size) and provides concealment (20% miss chance) to any creature or object wholly contained within.

Disguise: As a standard action, a scale can be used to cast alter self with a caster level of 20. While disguised, in addition to the standard effects of the spell, the target gains a +4 bonus on Bluff checks made against evil creatures.

Lay on Hands: The scale can be activated to provide lay on hands as per the paladin ability. This ability functions as if the bearer had a paladin level equal to his character level.

Resistance: As an immediate action, the scale can be used to cast resist energy with a caster level of 20 - but only against electricity or cold.

Sacred Weaponry: As a swift action, the scale can be used to cast align weapon with a caster level of 20 - but only to align the weapon lawful or good. Unlike a normal align weapon this effect can be cast on an unarmed strike or natural weapon.

Careful examination of the top of the cavern (as much as you can with the current light) reveals it to be solid - as if the earth itself reclosed after the gigantic demon had been disgorged.

Actually, after a moment of pointing, Chancre realizes that beyond the corpse of the spider, there seems to be a semi-natural passage that is large enough for everyone in the group to travel through.

Not long after you start following that tunnel, you find a smaller cavern that breaks off from the tunnel. Light reveals that it once served as a campsite or lair. A torn bedroll lies next to the cold remains of a fire. A pile of bones, broken equipment, and rubble lie just past the campsite.

A) Perception DC 15:
There is movement from the torn remains of fur or clothing near the bones.

B) Perception DC 20:
On the other side of the tunnel from the cavern, you spot a stone ledge that juts out at a right angle to the passage, fourteen feet off the ground. You think you spot a leather strap just barely hanging over the edge of the ledge.

Travel time is explicitly flex time.

Konstantin steps up and with a jedi-like use of mage hand, moves the debris around to get a look at what's inside.

Revealed to the light when the clothing is moved away is a mass of cockroaches - from tiny pinky nail ones right up to the B52s with wings. The swarm of roaches doesn't seem to be directed, instead just striving for the dark cracks and crevices in the rock around the cavern.

Perception DC 20:
The roaches are ... not right. Some of the wings seem deformed and a number of them leave etched black lines in the stone as if they are oozing acid.

Drea:
Roshan boosting Drea up on her butt makes it (/GM) a dc12 climb check if she wants to climb farther up, or a dc12 acrobatics to stand on his hands to get a closer look

Female Demonspawn Monk (Tetori/Qinggong/Hungry Ghost Monk) 5

Drea hops up gracefully on Roshan's hands to get a closer look, her wings flaring out for balance (but she does not, it is possibly notable, simply use them to fly up herself.) Then, with the added height making it an easier climb, she grabs the top of the ledge and scrambles over to the strap.

gm:
Take 10 on acrobatics for 16, then take 10 on climb for 14. Sorry for the lack of detail in the original, didn't realize there wasn't a simple way to get a better look. :)

Amid the remains of the campsite the demonic cockroaches flee, the group finds a few items useful for survival: bedroll, candlestubs, bent fishook, and hemp rope. Also one item that has nothing to do with survival: a copper brooch depicting an amethyst-eyed bat perched on a mushroom.

Appraise DC 20:
The workmanship of the brooch is odd. The construction and design bring to mind design elements from Mendev prior to the opening of the Worldwound, but the wear of the item would indicate far more recent construction.

More boringly, the brooch is worth 200 gp.

Additionally, Drea finds the strap leads to an abandoned masterwork backpack containing over a week's worth of trail rations, flint and steel, caltrops, two flasks of oil, a dozen arrows, and two full vials.

Alchemy DC 17 / Perception DC 17 / Detect Magic and Spellcraft DC 17:
One vial contains a potion of cure moderate wounds and the other a potion of lesser restoration.

The Dreamer Lost In Twilight's Embrace:
The wall proved to be quite slippery when Drea pulled herself up. Climbing back down would require a Climb DC 20. Alternatively, she could jump down, but would need to make a Acrobatics DC 15 to prevent taking damage.

Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Drea jumps down from the high ledge with the backpack, landing adroitly in a three-point stance, then folds her wings back up.

"May I?" asks Konstantin, holding his hand out for the potions.

Assuming the answer is yes

After squinting at and shaking the vials, he says, "This is a cure moderate wounds potion, and this is a lesser restoration."

The cave narrows back into a tunnel as it continues to travel through the darkness, only to widen into another pocket cave. Several mounds of rock lie in heaps in this cavern. Even now bits of dust still settle in the space, drifting in from the stones above.

Perception DC 20:
Curled amid the fallen stones is a pure white viper. Its tongue flicks out as the first people break into the wider space, and the wedge-shaped head turns, revealing twisted horns that look to be made of bone.

A) K: nature
B) K: planar

(*DC 10 knowledge checks can be made untrained)

A) DC 10:
A cave viper - most dangerous for their speed and venom.
B) DC 20:
The horns and just the feel of the creature scream demon-taited. Maybe spell-like abilities. Maybe aligned weapons. Maybe death to the holy.

Chancre's tongue sticks to the surface of the, like licking a metal post in the middle of winter. For a moment.

Chancre Cailean:
The scale is intensely cold when you first pick it up, although is mellows into a fierce chill after a bit. Touching it momentarily overwhelms you with feelings of loss, pain and sadness. Under those emotions those is a steely resolve. You feel a force expand out from you, cocooning you in a place of safety, just for a bit, then it contracts back into you.

And indeed Chancre's words prove true, as an albino white snake with enormous, almost ram's horns protruding from its skull. The creature is fast, supernaturally fast.

A grappled creature, also takes an additional –2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made to grapple or escape a grapple. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.)

Cave Vipers - Round 1

Drea rushes forward and grabs the serpent by the horns, struggling to keep its fangs away from herself or anyone else. The snake almost manages to evade Drea's grasp, but she succeeds.

Anevia shifts her weight from Kon to the wall next to them, pulling out a small rock that she had picked up. Her eyes narrow, forehead furrowing a bit. She shakes her head, muttering slightly, before throwing the stone - which goes wide in her care to avoid the person who is grappling the snake.

The snake, black venom dripping from fangs, tries to twist around and bite the arm so near its head. It almost succeeds, despite the hampering effect of Drea's hold.

Konstantin's fist is soon encrusted in frost. When he opens it, he reveals another ball of ice and snow, which he hurls at the viper. Between the tight throw and the grapple his spell ice freezes a patch on the wall.

Roshan swiftly but gently places the unconscious half-elf on the floor, then moves up. The snake proves too quick, even with Drea holding it.

For his part, Aravashnial asks, "When you say demon-tainted, you must be more precise. Does it show just a general deterioration from the abyssal rifts or does it display specific demonic aspects?"

And Gwerm moves so that the snake is more likely to attack other people. Just in case it gets away from the demon woman.

"It ... has ... horns!" Drea manages to call out as she struggles to control the snapping, writhing tube of muscle. "Bone horns, big ones, twisted! And it's ... extra fast!"

Round 2:

Action: Grapple to pin, no longer fighting defensively

Grapple Check: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 5 = 20

Possible Text: Drea releases one horn to grab the creature's tail, and with a looping maneuver ties the snake into a complicated knot.

AC (includes grappled/pinning condition): 12
CMD for purposes of creatures trying to escape a grapple: 22
Hit points: 7
Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +4

(Relevant Notes, for myself: When pinning someone, Drea has grappled condition and also loses Dex bonus to AC, which currently makes no difference because of extant Dex penalty. A pinned creature gets no Dex bonus to AC, and takes an additional –4 penalty to AC. It is limited in action to attempting to free itself (usually through a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check) and verbal or mental actions. Spell-like abilities require a concentration check of DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level.)
