How long could a familiar hold a charge?

Advice

Just had a thought.

Could a caster use a Touch spell designating his familiar as the toucher, then allowingthe familiar to hold the charge.

Hold long could the familiar hold it and would the caster be free to cast other spells or in a witches case, use a hex, without the familiar losing the spell.

It could be a good tactic, effectively making a familiar a spell storing weapon

Well, let's look at:

Quote:
Holding the Charge: If you don't discharge the spell in the round when you cast the spell, you can hold the charge indefinitely. You can continue to make touch attacks round after round. If you touch anything or anyone while holding a charge, even unintentionally, the spell discharges. If you cast another spell, the touch spell dissipates.

And

Quote:
Deliver Touch Spells (Su): If the master is 3rd level or higher, a familiar can deliver touch spells for him. If the master and the familiar are in contact at the time the master casts a touch spell, he can designate his familiar as the “toucher.” The familiar can then deliver the touch spell just as the master would. As usual, if the master casts another spell before the touch is delivered, the touch spell dissipates.

So, it seems to me that a familiar can hold a touch spell indefinitely; however, the spell still dissipates if the master casts a spell. I don't think a witch's hex would interfere, though, as they're all (Ex) and (Su) abilities.

Anecdote: I'm reminded of an abrasive wizard played by a friend of mine who chose a toad familiar to go with his abysmal charisma score. He had a hard time adjusting to traveling in a group, particularly since he walked slowly so that his toad could hop merrily along on its own. Any time someone went near the thing the wizard would snap "Don't touch my toad!" It wasn't long before the achingly slow pace got to be too much for the party's hyperactive halfling rogue, and she picked up the toad to carry it herself - and promptly received the shocking grasp that the toad had been holding all day.

Awesome.

This will become a tactic for my hexcrafter guide. Cast Intensified SG and let your Pterosaur familiar hold the charge. Then when combat starts, you delay so he can dive bomb and your little death machine can deliver it, then you unleash your own SG from your Spell storing weapon as YOU cast Rime frostbite through it.

;)
