houstonderek do you know the corn family?
Moontribe gatherings?

Liberty's Edge

Scenesters. People that are just there for dope and sex. People who don't participate in the living art concept. Tourists.

Huh. I'd go there for the art (though what kind of art do you mean?), and maybe (just maybe) the sex.

Dope (of any kind) is something I'm not interested in.

I know of them, but haven't had any socialization with them.

ok. those full moon gatherings were a place that was still sheltered from tourists like you describe. It's easier to pull off on that smaller scale since it's invite with directions released to a small list same day.
You see people with their kids, pets.
Those were some of the happiest years of my life. I wonder how they are doing now.

What do political rallies have to do with Burning Man again?

Because of the slippery slope of right wing logic:

Burning Man = heathens = weed = boobquake = commies = democrats.

I think the chain of logic is much shorter:

Burning Man = weed = hippies = democrats

From my own motley collection of friends and their political spectrum, let me assure you that Burning Man, weed, and hippies are not restricted to one political party. :D

We have similar events here in Texas, Orfunner being my favorite. Burning Flipside is pretty cool, too, only about three thousand people and no tourists.

I just go to my house.

I'm still mad you allowed directions to dissolve in the rain. :P

I doubt that either political party is devoid of deviants (by that I mean, those who don't follow norms. It's weird how a sociological definition can get twisted. Wait, it's not...) of any sort, from your casual liberal conservative to your full-on drag queen serial killers. My chain of logic is mostly derived from the depictions of both parties that they've shoved down our throats.
