From what I've heard from a friend that made it to E3, you'll be able to name all of your troops along with customizing their appearance.
This means a whole new generation of gamers is going to have that unique experience of seeing their friends, loved ones, and favorite fictional characters struggle, persevere, and grow into a formidible unit.
That will eventually panic and perish horribly during their first bad Terror Mission.
Oh I can't wait to see the reactions. :)

October 9. I preordered already. I can't wait. I probably played the original Xoom longer than any other video game I've ever owned.
I loved the original X-Com.

Another game I'd love to play I won't be able to aford soon... Dang. Well, for ages (i.e. somewhere since 97) I was used to play games years after their release.
Ahhhhh... the days of landing with your transport craft, losing initiative, getting a plasma grenade lobbed inside it through the port hatch, killing all but one agent...
My middle-school students described this game to me as "like Pathfinder." I've played it and I really like it -- it's turn based, and the soldiers seem to have standard actions and move actions, if only by another name. I actually expected this game to get a little more love on these boards -- the tactical aspect of it hearkens back to Temple of Elemental Evil, but without the magic of course. And cover plays a big role.
Gt it during the Summer Sale. Good game.
