How do you Password protect a USB thumb drive?

Technology

What's the best solution? My Google searches so far I don't trust.

What I'm looking to do is require a Password when a USB drive is inserted. If the password is incorrect the contents of the drive are not available.

What say you?

TrueCrypt is one (free) option, or if you have Windows Professional or Ultimate you can use BitLocker. Other free and commercial options are also easily found through a Google search.

I've used TrueCrypt before, but that requires me to create a file on the drive and then "mount" it each time I want to use it. I'll take a look at BitLocker, but what I'm looking for is something that popups once when you insert the drive, you enter the password, and then done.

If I recall correctly, it's possible to get TrueCrypt to do this. I think there is a caveat about needing admin access to the machine though.

Maybe this one or USB Secure from the same company. ($25-30 price range)

Software, FEH.

Aegis Secure Key

Aegis Padlock

Platform independence FTW. I LOOOOOOVE my Seagate BlackArmor that I bought a few years ago, but it's Windows-only, which has been a pain on a couple of occasions.

Note: I do not work for Apricorn. I work for a different company that buys a fair amount of the product, and they're pretty reliable and cool.

I think I'm going to get this one:
