No Jurisdiction, No Problem: Local Police Make Up Their Own Rules

As the Department of Defense continues to flood America’s local police departments with military equipment, some cops are letting the propaganda and the free toys go to their heads. One sheriff in Indiana let out a disturbing admission that he views America as a battlefield — making it imperative, in his opinion, to equip his deputies with gear fresh out of the hands of U.S. soldiers fighting overseas.

This culture and world view is not the exception.

Embattled Fountain Hill police officer Grady Cunningham has resigned. In exchange for his resignation, which became effective Friday, borough council agreed to pay Cunningham $35,000 and give him a “neutral” reference. Cunningham was fired in February 2013 after he allegedly used excessive force on a suspect in June 2012 in the police department’s holding cell.

Alas the history of these kinds of abuses suggests that is very very unlikely.

I remain unconvinced. If you're into weed and have more than two pit bulls, you're protecting your stash with lethal intent imo.

these aren't cops, they're tlc licence chasers. The idiocy of the comments beneath the article prompted me to clarify. Sometimes idiots from outSide ny make new wary of life outside ny.

fortunately/unfortunately, home births are seen as suspicious by many at dhs, primarily due to underage sexual activity leading to pregnancy, child abuse of the sexual sort, and human trafficking issues. If none of this happened here, i think the child should be checked out at a hospital then released to the parents.

This culture and world view is not the exception.

This is as old as the tides. Lots of cops armed up after WWII and Vietnam. Happens.

My fury is considerable. I would know more about the cops in this situation.

Jeez. I forgot there had been one of these recently.

If it helps, at least the shooter in Vidal's case has been indicted. That's Mr. "We don't have time for this".

Also, I meant to type "more than one if these recently" in my previous post.

DAYTON, Ohio (CN) - Dayton police "mistook" a mentally handicapped teenager's speech impediment for "disrespect," so they Tasered, pepper-sprayed and beat him and called for backup from "upward of 20 police officers" after the boy rode his bicycle home to ask his mother for help, the boy's mom says.

Or the mama had a litter of pups and the owners like to relax on the weekend. Or a family lives in a more rural environment and they have multiple rescue dogs some of which are pit mixes, and they have a family member who is being treated with MMJ.

There's a whole world of examples that don't fit your opinion here.

Add to that the fact that cops routinely falsely claim that the dogs they shot are "vicious", "dangerous", and "pit bulls" because a lot of folks stop reading at that point, and there is a hell of a lot of cause to be skeptical.

Abuse of power, and I had some links handy.

I like to re read the articles before I post them, and I ran out of steam before getting to other human rights abuses and some military industrial complex stuff.

How is a guard helping a prisoner escape government folly?

Oh, wait, I forgot.

Government is bad. Anarchy is good. Wayne Palmer should have been tortured to death by a crazed mob the first time he committed a crime.

Silly me.

They are also taking them from family members who have not been arbitrarily stripped of their fundamental humans rights.

Are you trying to be deliberately obtuse or are you just trolling?

That article's a year old. Did you even read it or the byline?

OSHA cited and fined the contractor. That's about all they can do because of people like you who go and cry about government interference.

This isn't government folly, it's corporate (well, personal since I think the construction company in question wasn't incorporated, but close enough) greed.
