Outrage! Unprovoked Police Attack
Against Peaceful Protest by CUNY Students and Faculty Against Ex-Gen. David Petraeus

I would be interested in seeing what is on this guys constitution- I'm familiar with college students making a few changes or underscoring specific text to push an agenda (usually weed related). Still, it sounds like an overreaction on the part of the college.

I'm familar with these protests. Interestingly enough, I'm usually on the side of the police, but I am not surprised in the slightest that a whiteshirt got violent.

Pa. State Trooper Charged With Stomping Handcuffed Man During Drug Raid

It looks like they got the wrong guy on top of the assault.

I'm a little concerned with the fact that a grand jury decided not to press charges, but all for this guy suing.

moron.

DALLAS — Six Dallas Police Department officers were fired on Tuesday. Two of them failed to investigate hundreds of domestic violence cases.

A third officer was charged with negligent homicide after an internal affairs investigation revealed he lied about a chase that led to a suspect's death.

Yet another officer was arrested for sexual assault, and the sixth had felony warrants.

the wheels do move on occasion.

I'm guessing this. It's fairly common at Tea party, RKBA, conservative, and libertarian events.

IIRC it's without commentary.

For the record it shouldn't matter what the content is, free people should never have to beg bureaucrats to exercise fundamental human rights especially on open public property that their taxes paid for.

Whiteshirt?

The guy on the left in the pics.

When you are holding a protest/rally/whathaveyou in ny, you gotta let the cops know and play nice (sorry anklebiter). The officers that are usually in charge on the streets are whiteshirts- usually veteran sergants, sometimes lieutenants(!). Whiteshirts have a deserved reputation for not wanting to be there at best (7 months to retirement *grumble grumble*), and being angry jerks at worse (stay behind the F$+~ING LINE!). Not that they are all bad people mind, but they're under a lot of pressure and are usually the first to snap. Occupy wall street cemented their reputations, especially in that bridge fiasco a fellow ny poster who was arrested there posted about a while back. Sometimes you'll run into a nice one at comic con or a street fair, but that's rare. Only mounted officers are more universally reviled.

hm. I have heard of places like this and I have heard multiple extreme stories on either end. I hesitate to call it government funded torture of mental health patients, as there are two sides to every story in the mental health field and ive seen dozens of pieces like this over the years(not all of them true), but i'm not in favor of this type of facility either- it sounds like a grandfathered place that should have been shut down years ago.

a couple of issues with the numbers in this article- I'd be interested in knowing what the remaining 1000 deaths were due to, and the manner of suicides and accidents.

I don't have access to the original data.

I just got the impression that the NHS forced psychiatric detention system has some issues.

Yup. I took a lot of my Psychology some 25 years ago. It's remarkable how much has changed.

I remember hearing a very little about this guy-I think he was guilty of some things, but he took the fall for everyone involved.

I don't see how this one is folly on the part of the government. He fired first, and when you fire on cops, you go down, regardless of age.

I think they could have tried to wait a 107 year old with no hostages out for a little while.
