I need these statted up for a jungle island in my campaign setting. I want them to be pretty terrifying, and almost more like an environmental hazard then a typical combat. They would show up on random encounter tables while exploring.
I would like for them to maybe use some of the swarm rules, but take up several squares.
I'm not sure how to calculate the CR either.
Any ideas?

Only thing I could find was from something called the City of Seven Spears.
Might work, I want them to be a real annoying menace like stirges though. bleed might not be enough.
I'm picturing the individual piranhas as small instead of tiny creatures, and the space of the swarm much bigger then ten feat. Could just use multiple swarms though I guess.

Yeah, just use multiple swarms and change the bleed damage to 1 or 2 Con damage a round. 1d4 or 1d6 Con damage if you really hate your friends. >-) ;-)
I think a flying swarm is a 10 foot cube.
EDIT:
Make them UNDEAD FLYING PIRHANA and give them 1 negative level per round as bleed damage!!!!!!!
Yeah may do this (Con damage)
Undead won't fit the theme, but fiendish might?
