Best way to wake a magically slept ally from range?

Advice

Ally is magically put to sleep. Normally a standard action within reach you can shake him awake. Here's what I have so far:

1. Throw an Alchemist fire in an adjacent square. They take 1 point of splash damage and wake up.
2. Shoot an arrow at them and hope you roll low.
3. Communicate with your summoned creature to wake him.

The goal here is to wake them without causing damage if possible. Assume that running up to them and shaking them awake is not an option.

Does anyone have any spells that could cause shaking?

Maybe some crowd control spell that causes no damage. It wakes him up, then the caster can dispel the effect.

Shout really, really loud.

Mage Hand? How far away?

Ooh, didn't think of that. Lets assume withing Close range for now.

Create Water

Throw pebbles.

Have your familiar go bite/peck/sting him somewhere sensative!

NOTE: this is not advised with mount/animal companion/or eidolon.

I like create water. Hrm, how loud can ghost sound get? Then again, who ever preps ghost sound? I'd only try an arrow if you stock blunts and the ally is armored. Say, couldn't you cast alarm with an immediate trigger?

Cook bacon and waft the aroma towards him?

Thunder...
THUNDER...
THUNDERSTONE,
HOOOOOO!

Liberty's Edge

Fireball, of course.

Throw a sap

Magic Missile. Seriously, a single missile. It's got range and just let the GM try and tell me they don't wake up after that.

CL1 magic missile would have been my idea too.

Create Water is a great idea though.

Shoot an arrow that doesn't deal damage, like a pain arrow.

If you think about it before you need it you could ask the GM if it's possible to combine smelling salts with a pheromone arrow. That way you could even wake an unconcious friend up.

Ghost sound?

Grand Lodge

Prestidigitation; Sneeze

Throw a sling bullet/rock for NL damage (maybe?)

Throw your very full and heavy coin pouch at the persons head

Liberty's Edge

A rooster and a Daylight spell?

Imitate the sound of a dripping faucet or the drunken jerkbags getting high outside my bedroom window?

Roll Diplomacy to kindly ask the bad guys to wake them up for you?

Roll Intimidate to not-so-kindly ask the bad guys to wake them up for you.

Use a Summon Monster 1 spell to summon a Fiendish Kitten who will instinctively want to curl up in the exact spot where your ally has rested his head and will proceed to claw his scalp until he is roused.

Ask one of your fellow party members who is standing closer to the guy to wake him up for you.

Let the bad guys wake him up by stabbing him because the rules of the thread only stipulate you do little or no damage to him.

Don't wake him up at all. He's been kind of cranky lately and he needs his rest. Eventually, he'll get up on his own anyway.

Sound burst
Fire a gun (maybe at him)

An arrow to the knee, most naturally.
Then you can go visit him later on guard duty.

Would Charm Person work on someone sleeping?

Yes. In fact, I think they don't get a save. That wouldn't wake them up, though, just make them consider you their bestest friend ever in their dreams.

and then you wake the sleeping guard up, and ask your friend to let you into the treasure room to have a peek

Oooo then maybe Suggestion to wake up?

Disintegrate!

That'll teach him to nap on the job!!

I think you mean:

Shout, shout, let it all out.

Isn't suggestion language-dependent? If he's unconscious or asleep, can he really understand it?

Honestly, I'd probably let it slide -- if you want to waste a spell slot like that, go for it.

Two-weapon fight and nonlethally throw your shield at them. You take huge penalties but 1d3+str nonlethal at -10 to hit is as harmless as you can get at levels 12 and above for full-BAB characters.

Except pheromone arrows still do damage. you could aim it at the square next to them maybe, and have the smell be bad enough to affect 5' from point of landing.

Use blunted arrows, and do the damage in non-lethal by taking a -4 to you're attack. worked for me a few times.

other than that, the only arrow that does no damage is the dye arrow. Also, it's a touch attack, so that makes it easier to hit you're ally with the arrow.

pebbles in a sling do almost no damage, iirc (1d2-1, min 1pt) receive no penalty to hit, and you can pick up any from the ground

Sovereign Court

Yet another useful thing for an Unseen Servant to do.

Are you kidding? That'd be an EXCELLENT way to wake a sleeping ally!

What I wanted to write was paint arrow. And I meant the dye arrow.

You can produce as much noise as four normal humans per caster level (maximum 40 humans)

while a roaring dragon is equal to the noise from 32 humans
