The Order of the Black Rose

I invented this order of paladins for my character in Carrion Crown, thought I'd post it here if someone might happen to find it interesting.

The Order of the Black Rose is a loosely organized, relatively small group of Pharasman paladins based mainly around Ustalav. Their main focus is combating the undead menace that plagues Ustalav, but also evil outsiders and other evil things they happen to come upon.

They don't have a clear leadership, but senior members tutor new paladins or gather when something big is about to happen. The Order has message boxes and affiliated clerics or other people in Pharasman temples. These are used to pass messages such as what members have been up to, any important information, are there any major threats that need a larger group of paladins etc. Magical communication might be used if available and especially if the need is great.

Members often limit their attention to one county, but others travel across Ustalav seeking threats and going where they are needed most. There's at least one senior member in every county as a point of contact for information and when coordinated efforts are needed.

Oath:
- I shall be devoted to Pharasma in life, and in death.
- Birth and death will both be held sacrosanct.
- I shall not suffer an undead to exist.
- Servants of Pharasma will be respected. (includes psychopomps)
- I shall not take a life in vain.
- Evil will be opposed to protect the natural order.
- I shall honor the remains of the dead.
- Law of the land will be respected, unless it goes against your duty to Pharasma.

Sounds good. By the normal rules Pharasma cannot have Paladins, but if you want to change that or have this apply to a an Order of Cavaliers this works.

Hmmmmmmm. Reminds me of my Order of the Ebon Rose, which was for monks.

The NPC:
I don't think RAW has anything against Pharasma having paladins, it only states that paladin has to be lawful good.

Also I remember someone mentioning about a one step away in alignment and neutrals are sort of one step away, even tho it's on both axes, but that's not in the RAW anyway. There was a discussion on Pharasman paladins here: http://paizo.com/forums/dmtz3pbt?Paladin-of-Pharasma

In the end it's of course up to the GM, but I can very well see a lawful good organization serving Pharasma for she has very lawful qualities like judging the dead etc. I also see Pharasma willing to lend them power especially for their focus on combating the undead.

Hmm, I don't quite see how these are too similar (tho I skimmed through that pretty quickly) - other than the name, which I chose for the connection black roses have with Pharasma. Focus seems quite different.

If a paladin worships a god, it has to be a LG, LN, or NG god. I'm sure this is stated in RAW. And Pharasma's TN.
BUUUUT this could be an order of Sentinel paladins after all...

Can you find a quote on that? As far as I know and according to that thread I posted above, there's no such rule in any of the Pathfinder books.

I think the "One Step Away" rule for alignments has only ever really applied to Clerics. I've never seen it mentioned that a Paladin has to be within one step of his deity's alignment.

Actually, it's stated about the Sacred Servant... but if you go to see the three "Faiths" books, only deities of the said alignments have paladin orders.
Same goes for druids, I think. Only oracles can have a very different alignment from their deities.

Well that's only for that archetype and lack of existing orders doesn't exclude you from creating your own. I just think Pharasma works really well with the undead scourge archetype. My character is actually a gestalt undead scourge / life oracle, because we have only two players for the Carrion Crown game.
